Barcelona, Atletico Madrid face off at Camp Nou

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will be looking to boost their respective title aspirations when they face off in Tuesday’s La Liga clash at Camp Nou.

The hosts are leading the way at the top of the table, while Diego Simeone‘s side are three points adrift in fourth position.

Barcelona may be struggling to replicate their high performance levels of last season, but they have still done enough to be sitting in pole position after 14 La Liga matches.

Hansi Flick‘s charges have recorded 11 league victories this term (D1, L2), including wins in each of their last four top-flight matches since losing to Real Madrid in El Clasico at the end of October.

With Real Madrid set to face Athletic on Wednesday, Barcelona will have the chance to move four points clear in Tuesday’s clash against Atletico, with the hosts looking to record a seventh victory in eight head-to-head league meetings.

Atletico have the joint-best defensive record in the division, but will travel to Barcelona without the services of defender Robin Le Normand, who is unlikely to be ready for the important league game, as he continues to recover from a knee injury he sustained in the Champions League win at the start of November.

As the hosts, Barcelona will be desperate to make home advantage count in Tuesday’s intriguing encounter, but Atletico will be in a confident mood following their recent run of form, and we think they will do enough to take a point from a difficult away assignment.

Newcastle welcome inconsistent Tottenham to St James Park

Separated only by goal difference in the middle of the Premier League rankings, inconsistent Newcastle United and declining Tottenham Hotspur tussle in Tuesday’s midweek clash at St James’ Park.

Nick Woltemade, Newcastle

Newcastle roared to a 4-1 trouncing of Everton over the weekend, while their visitors’ spate of home horror shows continued in a 2-1 loss to Fulham.

The seventh time was the charm for Newcastle away from home, as Howe had presided over six winless matches on the road since the 2025-26 Premier League season began, but the Magpies belatedly broke their away duck at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Newcastle’s recent feats over a sorry Spurs side have been well-documented, but the Magpies faithful have another reason to be overwhelmingly confident of their side’s chances of victory on Tuesday; their six-game winning run at St James’ Park.

The hosts have also netted at least two goals in all of those victories on their own turf and what is more, they are unbeaten in 10 straight midweek Premier League games at St James’ Park.

While Newcastle benefitted from a quickfire goal on Saturday evening, Tottenham were on the wrong end of such history against Fulham, conceding twice in a Premier League home game in record time.

Head-to-head history is not always the best indicator of future results, but St James’ Park has been a cursed ground for Spurs down the years, and it was only a few weeks ago that Howe’s side eased to a 2-0 EFL Cup win in this fixture.

The same outcome is entirely plausible this week, as Newcastle’s stellar home form will surely trump Spurs’ pleasing away record while the Lilywhites struggle to create chances and avoid defensive catastrophes.

Manchester City travel away to face Fulham

Manchester City travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in an intriguing Premier League encounter on Matchday 14.

Erling Haaland, Manchester City

The Citizens enter the round sitting second in the table with 25 points at the time of writing, while the Cottagers occupy 15th position with 17 points as they continue to search for consistency under Marco Silva.

Fulham have endured a mixed start to their Premier League campaign, collecting 17 points from 13 matches under Silva.

They head into this game fresh from an impressive 2-1 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday – a performance that showcased their improved attacking organisation and confidence.

Despite that win, inconsistency still defines their season, with just three victories from their last eight league outings.

Nevertheless, Craven Cottage has been a reliable source of points, with the Cottagers recording four wins, one draw and only one defeat on home turf this season.

Manchester City, meanwhile, sit second in the Premier League standings but have shown signs of vulnerability this season.

With 25 points from 13 games – eight wins, one draw and four defeats – Pep Guardiola’s men have been less consistent than in previous years, raising questions about their title credentials.

Manchester City’s superior individual quality and tactical structure should give them the edge, even at a difficult ground like Craven Cottage.

Fulham’s strong home form suggests they will create chances and may get on the scoresheet, but City’s head-to-head dominance and deeper squad should ultimately secure them all three points.

Bournemouth and Everton collide at the Vitality Stadium

After both coming out on the wrong end of five-goal score lines over the weekend, Bournemouth and Everton collide in Tuesday’s Premier League showdown at the Vitality Stadium.

Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth

Suffering a fate that no team before them had ever suffered, Bournemouth became the first side to lose a Premier League game against Sunderland after taking a two-goal lead against the Black Cats, who experienced a disastrous opening 15 minutes at the Stadium of Light.

A miserable record of just two wins from nine Premier League matches paints an ugly picture for Bournemouth and Iraola, who is still regarded as a highly in-demand head coach, but the Cherries’ dismal streak has done his reputation little favours in recent weeks.

However, Bournemouth’s solitary point from their last four games came at home in their chaotic draw with West Ham United, and the Cherries remain unbeaten at the Vitality Stadium in the 2025-26 Premier League, claiming four wins from six contests.

Everton could formerly boast a similar feat at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium home, but after going unbeaten in their first four Premier League games at their new headquarters, David Moyes‘s men have seen the walls come crumbling down.

The hectic fixture schedule puts all teams’ squad depth to the test, but Everton are lacking in that regard compared to Bournemouth, who can make more menacing attacking alterations than their visitors.

The Cherries’ praiseworthy home record is also difficult to overlook, so we have faith in Iraola’s men to pull themselves out of their rut.
