Matchday 12 of the Ghana Premier League delivered drama, narrow escapes, tactical battles and unexpected results across all league venues. From thrilling draws to shock away victories, the weekend offered fans plenty to talk about.
Asante Kotoko 2–2 Medeama
A pulsating encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium saw Asante Kotoko and Medeama share the points in a 2–2 thriller. Medeama started the brighter of the two sides, pushing Kotoko deep into their half and threatening with early chances. Kotoko, however, responded with maturity, finding gaps in Kotoko’s defence and capitalising when it mattered.

The game swung from one end to the other, with both sides showing hunger and resilience. Kotoko nearly lost and had to rely on an injury time header from Skipper Samba O’neil to end the match in a draw.
Bechem United 1–2 Hohoe United
One of the standout results of the GPL matchday 12 came in Bechem, where Hohoe United secured a hard-fought 2–1 away victory. Bechem United looked sharp early on and took the lead, raising hopes of another solid performance at home.
But Hohoe United refused to be rattled. They grew stronger with each passing minute, dominated the midfield battles, and eventually overturned the deficit with two well-taken goals. Their defensive discipline in the final moments ensured they left Bechem with all three points; an important result that boosts their campaign.
Berekum Chelsea 0–0 Samartex
A tense tactical contest played out at the Golden City Park as Berekum Chelsea held Samartex to a goalless draw. Samartex, one of the league’s most consistent sides, came into the game expecting to impose their style, but Chelsea stood firm.
The home side kept their shape brilliantly and frustrated Samartex whenever they attempted to break forward. Though both teams crafted half-chances, clear openings were rare. The goalless draw reflected the tightly matched nature of the encounter.
Bibiani Gold Stars 1–0 Aduana
Gold Stars delivered a spirited performance to secure a 1–0 win against Aduana in Bibiani. The home side played with energy and intent and their persistence paid off with a decisive goal by Striker Atta Kumi that lifted the stadium.

Aduana, known for their attacking quality, struggled to impose themselves and found it difficult to penetrate Gold Stars’ organised defensive setup. The result is a significant boost for Gold Stars, as they look to climb higher up the table.
Heart of Lions 0–0 Karela United
Sogakope witnessed a cagey and highly tactical battle between Heart of Lions and Karela United, ending goalless. The match was characterized by careful build-up play, with both teams showing caution and prioritizing defensive security.
While Lions attempted to push the tempo, Karela stayed disciplined and absorbed pressure effectively. In the end, both sides lacked the sharpness in the final third to produce a breakthrough, settling for a point apiece.
Holy Stars 1–0 Nations FC
Holy Stars pulled off one of the most impressive wins of the weekend, defeating Nations FC 1–0. Nations FC, normally vibrant and attack-minded, found themselves limited by Holy Stars’ tight marking and aggressive pressing.

The hosts took their chance when it arrived, scoring the only goal in a match defined by determination and defensive focus. For Holy Stars, the victory is a statement result that could spark momentum for the coming weeks.
Swedru All Blacks 0–0 Young Apostles
Swedru All Blacks and Young Apostles played out a balanced goalless draw in a match where both teams showed glimpses of quality but lacked finishing edge. Young Apostles looked dangerous on the counter, while All Blacks enjoyed more possession.

Despite their contrasting approaches, neither side was able to tilt the match in their favor. The stalemate reflects a contest where effort overshadowed end product.
Hearts of Oak 1–0 Vision FC
Hearts of Oak kicked off the matchday with a morale-boosting 1–0 win over Vision FC in Accra. The Phobians controlled large parts of the match, keeping Vision pinned in key moments and dictating tempo with composed passing.
The lone goal was enough to send the home fans into celebration as the team secured three vital points. Vision FC had late chances to equalise, but Hearts’ defense stood tall to protect their clean sheet.
Eleven Wonders 2-0 Dreams FC
The final match of Matchday 12 took place yesterday, with Wonders edging past Dreams in a fierce contest. Wonders began as the better side, creating several early chances but failing to capitalise in front of goal. With both teams fighting to escape the relegation zone, this was a crucial fixture with the potential to lift the winners’ confidence.
Wonders finally broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when Mathew Amponsah calmly slotted home, after a well-placed pass from Emmanuel Boateng.
Eleven Wonders doubled their lead just ten minutes into the second half. As the game approached its final stages, a flurry of cards was issued amid rising tensions.
In the end, it was a statement win that Wonders will hope to build on as the season progresses.
