The Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College has successfully organised a two-day workshop for its tutors, administrative staff and key stakeholders.
It is meant to equip the academic staff with innovative teaching techniques, digital integration and effective administration of educational policies to enhance their teaching methodologies and professional development.
The workshop addressed critical topics such as 21st-Century teaching skills, legal framework in higher education, IT-based assessments, staff development opportunities and institutional planning.
The workshop, which was under the theme: “Developing 21st-Century Skills in Higher Education”, also provided a platform to discuss the college’s 2025 Action Plan, which aims to improve various aspects of institutional development.

They focused on the legal and ethical standards surrounding examinations such as Examination Malpractice Strategies to prevent cheating and ensure academic integrity, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Legal frameworks guiding fair grading and assessment appeals, Best practices to secure examination materials and prevention of examination leakages.
The Guest Speaker, Dr. Collins Atta Poku, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, emphasised the need for tutors to adopt these innovative strategies to make learning more practical and engaging.
Dr. Albert Opoku, Principal of the College, speaking at the opening session stressed the importance of preparing students for the evolving healthcare sector by integrating 21st-Century skills into the curriculum.
He urged tutors to incorporate these skills into their teaching strategies to produce well-rounded and competent healthcare professionals.
Some tutors who participated in the workshop expressed their enthusiasm for the knowledge they acquired, stating that the sessions have deepened their understanding of effective teaching methods, assessment techniques and professional development opportunities.
