Mahama Promotes 19 Senior Police Officers

Nineteen (19) senior police officers made up of eight (8) Deputy Commissioners of Police
(DCOP) and eleven (11) Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) have been promoted to
their respective next ranks.

Their promotion, which was assented to by President John Dramani Mahama was based on the recommendations of the Police Council and forms part of efforts to recognise merit, dedication and longstanding service in the Ghana Police Service.

The senior officers promoted from DCOP to Commissioners of Police (COP) are Dr Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Mr Frederick Agyei, Mr Duuti Tuaruka, Mr Arthur Osei-Akoto, Mr Darko Offei Lomotey, Mr Eric Ken Winful, Mr Barnabas Nambont Nasumong and Mr
Desmond Owusu Boampong.

Those from ACP to DCOP are Dr Wisdom Dinam Zioku, Mr Emmanuel Aryee Akonnor, Mr Felix Apedo, Mr Cosmos Afena Damoah, Mr George Andrews Kumah, Mr Stephen Kwasi Kwakye, Ms Victoria Yamoah.

The rest are Mr William Sedoame, Mr Eric Asamoah Asiedu, Dr Osei Owusu Afriyie and Rev Jonas Samuel Aboagye. During a short ceremony at the Police Headquarters in
Accra on Friday April 17, 2026, attended by the Police Management Board (POMAB), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno entreated them to continue
to discharge their duties with zeal and dedication, not forgetting that, the public expectation from them is to travel and sleep without fear of being attacked.
