The Aduana Family if Etwereso and Osenase addressing the media

The principal elders and kingmakers of the Aduana family in Etwereso and Osenase have dismissed claims that the Odau group has broken away from the Akyem Abuakwa State, describing the declaration as fraudulent and misleading.

At a news conference held in Etwereso, the Head of the Aduana Family in Osenase, Opanyin Kwabena Aniagyei, reaffirmed the family’s unwavering allegiance to the Ofori Panin Stool and its occupant, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene.

Family members displayed placards underscoring their position, with messages including: “Okyenhene is our overlord” and “Etwereso is still part of Akyem Abuakwa,” while rejecting claims attributed to one Osei Afrifa.

The elders described an earlier news conference by a faction of individuals in Etwereso whom they claim are largely not members of the Akyem-based Aduana lineage as illegitimate.

They further alleged that the individual who presented himself as a family spokesperson, Osei Afrifa (also referred to as Kwame Afrifa), is not a member of the Aduana family.

“We have watched with dismay a statement declaring a breakaway of the Odau group from Akyem Abuakwa. That declaration is fraudulent. The person behind it is an imposter and does not belong to our family in Osenase or Etwereso,” Opanyin Aniagyei stated.

They accused him of attempting to create division and indicated that appropriate legal steps would be taken.

The elders also rejected claims that Odau predates Akyem Abuakwa, describing such assertions as historically inaccurate.

They explained that their ancestors migrated and sought refuge within Akyem Abuakwa centuries ago, where they were settled and integrated into the state, contributing to its development and defense.

Reaffirming their stance, the family emphasised that their allegiance remains firmly with the Okyenhene and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council.

“No individual, regardless of their claims, can undo the historical and cultural ties that bind us to the Ofori Panin Stool. We have never consented to any breakaway and we never will,” the statement stressed.

The family further indicated that it would determine the next course of action regarding individuals involved in the declaration, noting that while such actions could have led to conflict in the past, they would now pursue resolution through lawful and traditional processes.
