Five of the incumbent Western Regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) retained their respective positions at the just-ended regional conference to elect executive to steer the affairs of the party.

The Regional Chairman, Nana Kojo Toku, Secretary Joseph Nelson, Organiser Charles Adu Forjour, Communication Officer Kirk Mensah and Deputy Communication Officer were the five who retained their positions.

As earlier predicted by The Chronicle, it was a smooth ride for incumbent Chairman Nana Toku who gave his contender a commanding lead by polling a whopping 415 votes as against 91 by the latter.

For the race of Regional Organiser, it was a close contest between Charles Adu Fordjour and George Dadzie. But in the end, Adu Fordjour, who was the caretaker Organiser, showed why he could be entrusted with the position by polling 232 votes to beat his close contender who poled 209.

George Dadzie, who was the Youth Organiser, had sought to go a notch higher in his political career by contesting for the Organiser position to give his main challenger a close fight, but in the end, Dadzie was not strong enough to beat his contender.

The rest of the contenders, Yonus Muhamed, Alfred Mensah and Michael Quarshie secured 33, 31 and 1 votes respectively.

In the race for the Secretary, Joseph Nelson polled 265 votes to beat Michael Otoo, Famous Tumi Acquah and Mawuto Senoo who fell below a hundred votes. Tumi Acquah poled 83 votes, Michael Otoo 87 and Kojo Appiah, a former District Chief Executive, 67.

A first time contender, Charlotte Otuwa Odum, a former Mayor of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), secured victory as Vice Chair beating incumbent Daniel K. Eshun for the position.

Charlotte polled 264 votes to come top of the race whilst Daniel K. Eshun polled 119, but was not enough to secure him a Vice Chairman position.

The Youth Organiser position, on the other hand, went to Mustapha Iddrisu who polled 37 votes to beat his contenders.

Swearing in the new executives, a leading member of the party, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, called for unity amongst both the old and new executives.

He said, with Nana Toku in charge as Chairman, he was sure he would reach out to everyone.
