Pharmacist at Police in court over illegal possession of firearm

Reagan Kaaiemabong, 38 and a civilian intern pharmacist at the Police Hospital, has been put before the Accra Circuit Court ‘2’ for possessing a firearm without authority, impersonation, and issuing threat of death to others.

The court, presided over by Rosemary Torsu Baah, was informed by the prosecuting officer, Inspector Jonas Lawer, yesterday, that Reagan was caught by the law after having gone to the 2M Express bus terminal to urinate indiscriminately.

He narrated to the court that on February 18, 2022, Reagan went and parked his car at the 2M Express yard and started urinating.

Inspector Lawer further told the court that security personnel at post confronted Reagan, and this infuriated him, for which reason he pulled out a gun threatening to kill the security man.

According to the prosecuting office, the accused also pointed the gun at a driver who came out to ascertain what was happening.

As a result, he stated that a police patrol team was called to the scene and the accused was arrested.

He informed the court that the accused told the police that he was a doctor at the Police Hospital during interrogation, but it was discovered that he was an intern pharmacist with the Hospital and not a doctor, as he claims.

The court has, however, granted him bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, after having pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The case has been adjourned to May 17, 2022 for continuation.
