Rapper Strongman, born Osei Kwaku Vincent has mentioned that, men should refrain from taking money from women as it comes along with dire consequences.

According to him, taking money from women mostly goes with a curse, especially when the man cannot follow the binding rules.

“I am the type who doesn’t like taking money from women. Money from women goes with curses. You will die early if you do that. Be careful as a man if you like spending money from women”, strongman advised.

Even though he is not known to delve into spiritualities, Strongman says that men who lure women they are in a relationship with to take their money and later dump them risk being cursed.

Strongman is known to be in a relationship with his baby mama, Nana Ama. They have one child, Simona which is regularly seen online displaying her eloquence in reciting national anthem and featured in skits.

Vatican sends envoy to Ukraine for peace talks possibilities

Pope Francis

Pope Francis has sent Italian Cardinal Matteo Zuppi on a two-day peace mission to Kyiv to sound out government authorities in a bid to help end the war in Ukraine. The Vatican announced Cardinal Zuppi’s visit in a short statement this Monday, which many observers see as an uphill effort to get peace negotiations started.

The Holy See says the main purpose of the two-day visit is “to listen carefully to Ukrainian authorities on the possible ways to reach a just peace and support humanitarian gestures that may help ease tensions”.

It is not clear if Zuppi – who is the Archbishop of Bologna and head of the Italian Bishops Conference – will meet President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky met the Pope at the Vatican on 13 May and later appeared cool to the prospects of any papal initiative that would put Ukraine on an equal footing with Russia, which invaded its neighbour on 24 February 2022.

Last month, Zuppi told reporters that he did not foresee a mediation in the strict sense of the word but that he was ready to “do anything” to help ease tensions.

Flight from Paris to US diverted to Canada due to unruly passenger

Delta Air Lines

A disruptive passenger on a Friday flight from Paris, France, to Detroit, Michigan, is facing criminal charges after his behavior caused the plane to be diverted to Canada, police said.

The 34-year-old man was acting in an “unruly manner” and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, according to Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesperson Cpl. Jolene Garland.

Officials have not named the passenger.

The man was arrested by Royal Canadian Mounted Police when the plane landed at the Stephenville Dymond International Airport in Newfoundland, Canada, Garland said.

The passenger is facing charges of endangering an aircraft and is expected to appear in Stephenville Provincial Court on Monday, according to Garland.

The flight, operated by Delta Air Lines, left Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris Friday morning and was in the air for about six hours before landing in Canada, according to flight tracker FlightAware. After about 90 minutes at the Canadian airport, it took off and headed to Detroit.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior, especially when it potentially compromises the safety of our customers and flight crew,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement regarding the incident.

Belgium probes alleged use of its weapons in attack on Russia

Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo says Belgium will ask Ukraine to clarify whether Belgian rifles supplied to Kyiv were used by pro-Ukrainian troops to attack Russia’s western border.

De Croo’s comments came on Monday after The Washington Post reported over the weekend that anti-Kremlin fighters – Freedom of Russia Legion and Russian Volunteer Corps – who launched a cross-border attack from Ukraine in Russia’s Belgorod region last month, used tactical vehicles originally given to Ukraine by the United States and Poland and carried rifles made in Belgium and the Czech Republic.

“European weapons are delivered to Ukraine under the condition that they are used on Ukrainian territory with the purpose of defending that territory. And we have strict controls in place to see that this is the case,” De Croo told Belgium’s Radio 1.

He highlighted that Belgium would take this situation “very seriously”, but declined to comment on possible consequences if the reports were confirmed.

Woman pardoned after 20yrs in jail for baby deaths

Kathleen Folbigg always maintained she was innocent

A woman once branded “Australia’s worst female serial killer” has been pardoned after new evidence suggested she did not kill her four infant children.

Kathleen Folbigg spent 20 years in prison after a jury found she killed sons Caleb and Patrick and daughters Sarah and Laura over a decade.

But a recent inquiry heard scientists believe they may have died naturally.

The 55-year-old’s case has been described as one of Australia’s greatest miscarriages of justice.

Ms Folbigg, who has always maintained her innocence, was jailed for 25 years in 2003 for the murders of three of the children, and the manslaughter of her first son, Caleb.

Each child died suddenly between 1989 and 1999, aged between 19 days and 19 months, with prosecutors at her trial alleging she had smothered them.

Previous appeals and a separate 2019 inquiry into the case found no grounds for reasonable doubt, and gave greater weight to circumstantial evidence in Ms Folbigg’s original trial.

But at the fresh inquiry, headed by retired judge Tom Bathurst, prosecutors accepted that research on gene mutations had changed their understanding of the children’s deaths.

India, US agree on roadmap for defence cooperation

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin shakes hands with his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh

India and the United States have concluded a roadmap for defence industry cooperation for the next few years, the Indian government says – a move expected to bolster New Delhi’s defence manufacturing ambitions.

Washington is working to deepen ties with the world’s largest arms importer and sees deeper military-to-military and technology ties with the South Asian country as a key counterweight to China’s dominance in the region.

The roadmap was finalised at a meeting between visiting US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday.

The agreement comes weeks before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Washington on June 22 for an official state visit and holds talks with President Joe Biden.

India depends on Russia for nearly half its military supplies but has also increasingly diversified its sources to buy from the US, France and Israel among other nations.

Russia thwarts major Ukrainian offensive

0
Ukraine has been planning a counter-offensive for months

Russia’s defence ministry says it has thwarted a major Ukrainian attack in Donetsk, in the latest sign that a wider counter-offensive may have begun.

Video of what Russia says is the battle shows military vehicles under heavy fire in fields. Russia claims it killed 300 troops and destroyed 16 tanks.

However Moscow’s claims have not been independently verified.

And on Monday, Ukraine’s military said it had no information about a major attack in the region.

“We do not have such information and we do not comment on any kind of fake,” a Ukrainian army spokesperson told Reuters.

A major Ukrainian counter-offensive has been long awaited but Kyiv has already said it would not give advance warning of its start.

However with Ukraine claiming to have made marginal gains elsewhere on the front line, there has been a notable increase in military activity.

The latest reports are therefore being seen as a fresh sign that the expected Ukrainian push may have begun.

The Truth About Vitamin D’s Health Benefits

0

Vitamin D and Depression

Experts aren’t sure if a lack of it leads to depression or if it’s the other way around. But studies show a link between the two. Research is ongoing to see if raising your vitamin D levels can help with symptoms and boost your mood.

Fight the Flu

Scientists are still figuring out exactly how well vitamin D can treat or even keep you from getting the virus. One study showed taking vitamin D drops in the winter helped lower the number of Japanese schoolchildren who got the flu. It’s clear it’s an important part of a healthy immune system. Your body can’t fight germs well if it doesn’t have enough.

Multiple Sclerosis

Studies show vitamin D may lower your chance of getting MS. It’s a disease where your immune system attacks the central nervous system. If you already have it, some studies show vitamin D can ease your symptoms or even slow the disease’s growth.

Heart Help?

There’s no solid proof vitamin D supplements lower your risk of heart attack or stroke. But there’s hope it might head off heart failure. Researchers are looking into it.

Cancer Connection

Vitamin D may curb your chances of certain cancers, like colon, breast, and prostate.  The rates are even better when paired with calcium. In one clinical trial, African Americans’ risk went down 23% when they took vitamin D supplements.

Bone Builder

Healthy vitamin D levels can slow bone loss. It also helps ward off osteoporosis and lowers your chance of broken bones. Doctors use vitamin D to treat osteomalacia. That’s a condition that causes soft bones, bone loss, and bone pain.

A Link to Weight Loss

Want to shed pounds? Try vitamin D supplements. Taken with calcium, it can keep you from feeling hungry as often. This means you eat fewer calories.

Vitamin D Deficiency

About 4 out of 10 people don’t get enough vitamin D. If yours is low, you might not eat enough foods with it. Or you might have a health condition that stops you from absorbing it. Or you might just need more sunlight.

You Are What You Eat

A tablespoon of cod liver oil has a whopping 1,360 IU of vitamin D. If that doesn’t sound tasty to you, try foods like swordfish, salmon, tuna, and sardines. Orange juice and dairy products such as yogurt and milk are good choices, too. So are beef liver, egg yolks, and fortified cereals.

Soak Up the Sun

It’s important to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. But your body needs some sun to make vitamin D. Try 15-20 minutes of sun a day, three times a week.

Too Much of a Good Thing

Problems converting vitamin D from food or sunshine can set you up for a deficiency. Factors that increase your risk include:

  • Age 50 or older
  • Dark skin
  • A northern home
  • Overweight, obese, gastric bypass surgery
  • Milk allergy or lactose intolerance
  • Diseases that reduce nutrient absorption in the gut, such as Crohn’s disease or celiac
  • Being institutionalized
  • Taking certain medications such as seizure meds

Using sunscreen can interfere with getting vitamin D, but abandoning sunscreen can significantly increase your risk for skin cancer. So it’s worth looking for other sources of vitamin D in place of prolonged, unprotected exposure to the sun.
