Yaa Amoako-Adu elected first female SRC President of Tadi GIMPA

Yaa Amoako-Adu, a women empowerment champion and Chief Executive Officer of Integrity Logistics and Consult Limited has become the first female to be elected as Students Representative Council (SRC) President of the Takoradi campus of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Contesting for the position unopposed, Miss Amoako-Adu expressed her profound gratitude to the students for the trust reposed in her by accepting her as the new President of the SRC, stating; “I promise to work tirelessly to protect your interest and create the perfect ambiance for academic excellence, growth of the institution and our host community.”

Speaking on behalf of her executive body, she mentioned that, she is fortunate to lead a team “with dynamic students with collective direction to execute strategic plans that are well packaged towards its mandate and protect the interest of all students.”

Miss Amoako-Adu sees her election to the SRC Presidency as power to women. She believes “when women are given the opportunity, they do better and my election to this office will demonstrate this. I am mindful of the fact that, my success or otherwise in this office will go a long way to influence the chances of other women not only in GIMPA but other schools. If I do better, I will become an example for others to be given an opportunity so I have no option than to make sure the best work is done.”

The other new executive members include Mr Leonard Borkloe as the SRC Vice-President, Ms Judith ManzaAkorsah as the Secretary, Mr Jeremiah (Jerry) Asiamah as the Organiser. The Woman Commissioner as Ms Myra Tabbicca Majdoub and Ms Esther Peprah Nyaveh as the Treasurer.

Yaa Amoako-Adu who is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at GIMPA is a joint venture partner of Apave Ghana Inspection which has a strong presence in the upstream oil and gas sector. She has more than a decade and half of experience within the space.

She is the President and founder of Virtuous Boardroom, a not-for-profit organisation with the core mandate of empowering women and the girl child.

Yaa Amoako-Adu was honoured as 40-Under-40 Awards for her contribution and service to her community, Young Achiever’ at Ghana Oil and Gas Awards among many other awards.
