Speaking during an interview on the Delay Show, the social media personality said every woman ought to see herself as a symbol of sex.

“I mean, every woman is a sex symbol. What I am trying to say is that as far as you are a woman you need to psyche yourself up that you are a sex symbol,” the 24-year-old stated.

According to Hajia Bintu, born as Naomi Asiamah, her curvy and heavy backside is all natural.

She denied claims that she has had her body artificially enhanced.

Ghanaian Actress, Jackie Appiah has refused to wade in on the ongoing LGBTQ brouhaha in the country. Jackie Appiah who was a guest on United Showbiz on Saturday, April 2, was unwilling to touch on the subject in particular, caused a stir on social media.

“Please I am minding my own business,” she said to the roar of laughter from host MzGee and the rest of the panel.

The issue of LGBTQ dominated the conversation on the show as various guests gave their two cents on the matter which has become a raging debate in Ghana.

Her colleague, James Gardiner who spoke on the matter said he did not care what people do in their closet when it came to sexuality.

“I really don’t care what people do behind closed doors or who they get into bed with…That’s their thing,” he said.

Although it cracked some of her colleagues up, it didn’t sit well with a section of netizens on social media, as they have lambasted the actress for choosing to remain silent over the issue.

According to them, Jackie Appiah should have condemned the act, adding that her influence could have gone a long way to transform the minds of people.

Social media has been on fire after President Akufo-Addo defied the position of his government and shying away from telling Kamala Harris in the face the position of the country on homosexuality.

Ambolley blames VGMA for collapse of highlife music

0
Gyedu Blay Ambolley

Highlife legend, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, is blaming the organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) for causing the collapse of highlife.

The man who is credited as the originator of rap said that, the scheme over the years has evolved into giving foreigners a false impression of music representation in Ghana.

“It is unfortunate that people think when you sing in Twi or Fante over a Dancehall or Reggae beats it automatically makes it highlife music. That is not true but it has become the norm over the years because these are the kinds of music VGMA rewards.”

“Today, if anyone wants to have an idea of what Ghana represents in terms of music, I bet the person will not count any highlife artiste since all the perceived big acts currently are not doing highlife.”

“We have buried our own and pursuing Dancehall music and the likes and interestingly, the VGMA has been promoting the agenda by rewarding such artistes with the topmost prizes,” he mentioned.

Touching on how the media has also contributed to the frail nature of the highlife music now, he added that; “The media cannot be absolved from what is happening to highlife music now. They don’t do their own research to ask critical questions.”

“For instance, if An artiste plays Reggae beats and sings Twi or Fante, we call it highlife music which is totally wrong because highlife has its own beats.

“Also, the members on the Selection Committee of VGMA are also guilty because they don’t make the right selection. So if critics say Highlife music is dying, it means some people are not doing their homework well,” he added.

Former United States President Donald Trump

The former US president is due to be arraigned, fingerprinted and photographed at a Manhattan court in relation to the hush-money payment.

Former United States President Donald Trump is due to fly to New York City from Florida for his scheduled arraignment related to a hush-money payment made to an actress in pornographic films before the 2016 presidential election.

Trump, the first former president to face criminal charges, is expected to be arraigned, fingerprinted and photographed at the central Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday.

The specific charges included in the grand jury indictment have not been disclosed. Trump’s lawyers have said he will enter a plea of not guilty.

“I will be leaving Mar-a-Lago on Monday at 12 noon, heading to Trump Tower in New York. On Tuesday morning I will be going to, believe it or not, the Courthouse. America was not supposed to be this way!” Trump, who seeks the Republican nomination to run again in 2024, said late on Sunday on his social media site Truth Social.

The New York investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg centres on a $130,000 payment that Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal lawyer and fixer, made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.

China’s loans to Africa worry World Bank President David Malpass

0
World Bank President David Malpass has been in Niamey this week promoting education as a tool for economic development

The president of the World Bank has told the BBC that he is concerned about some of the loans China has been making to developing economies in Africa.

David Malpass says the terms and conditions need to be “more transparent”.

It comes amid worries that countries including Ghana and Zambia are struggling to repay their debts to Beijing.

China says that any such lending is done within international rules.

Developing countries often borrow money from other nations or multilateral bodies to finance sectors that will grow their economies such as infrastructure, education and agriculture.

However steep increases in interest rates in the US and other major economies over the last year are making loan repayments more expensive because lots of that borrowing is done in foreign currencies such as US dollars or euros.

It is a particularly acute problem for developing economies who can struggle to find the extra money that is required as the relative value of their own currency falls.

It is a “double whammy and it means that [economic] growth is going to be slower”, says Mr Malpass.

Chinese spy balloon was able to transmit information back to Beijing

US sailors recover a suspected Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon that was downed by the United States over US territorial waters off the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on February 5, 2023

The Chinese spy balloon that transited the US earlier this year was able to capture imagery and collect some signals intelligence from US military sites, a source familiar with the matter tells CNN.

The balloon was able to transmit information back to Beijing in real time, the source said, and the US government still does not know for sure whether the Chinese government could wipe the balloon’s data as it received it. That raises questions about whether there is intelligence the balloon was able to gather that the US still doesn’t know about.

Still, the intelligence community has not been overly concerned about the information the balloon was able to gather, the person said, because it is not much more sophisticated than what Chinese satellites are able to glean as they orbit over similar locations.

The US also knew what the balloon’s path would be and was able to protect sensitive sites and censor some signals before the balloon was able to pick them up, officials have said.

As CNN has reported, the US intelligence community last year developed a method of tracking what it says is a fleet of these Chinese balloons operating across the globe, controlled by the Chinese military.

The FBI is still examining the balloon, but so far officials have been able to glean additional information about how the device worked, including the algorithms used for the balloon’s software and how it is powered and designed.

CNN has reached out to the National Security Council at the White House and the Pentagon for comment. NBC was first to report on the new intelligence.

Philippines announces locations of 4 bases to be used by US army

Philippine and United States forces take part in a military exercise at a naval training base in San Antonio, Zambales province, the Philippines

One site is near the hotly disputed South China Sea and another not far from Taiwan.

Philippine Marines take their position during a mock beach assault along with their US counterparts as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT 2014) along the beach at a Philippine naval training base facing the South China Sea in San Antonio, Zambales province, north of Manila on June 30, 2014. Naval forces from the US and Philippines engaged in an amphibious landing on June 30 on Luzon island amid a tense territorial row with China.

The office of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has named the four additional bases that United States forces will have access to under an existing defence agreement to expand military cooperation.

The Philippine government announced in February that it would allow rotating batches of US forces to indefinitely stay in the new camps, in addition to five local bases earlier designated under a 2014 Enhanced Defence Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).

The locations of the additional bases, however, were withheld until Monday while the government consulted with local officials.

The Presidential Communications Office said in a statement that the four sites will be in Isabela and Cagayan, on the island of Luzon, facing north towards Taiwan, and on Palawan, near the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

The bases had been assessed by the Philippine military and deemed “suitable and mutually beneficial”, the statement said, noting that the camps would also be used for humanitarian and relief operations during disasters.

Darya Trepova: Russia releases tape of suspect in cafe killing of Vladlen Tatarsky

Darya Trepova declined to say who gave her the statuette but Russian authorities have blamed opposition figures

Russian investigators have detained a woman in the hunt for the killers of pro-war blogger Vladlen Tatarsky in a blast at a St Petersburg cafe.

In video released by authorities – most likely recorded under duress – Darya Trepova is heard admitting she handed over a statuette that later blew up.

But in the footage released, she does not say she knew there would be an explosion, nor admit any further role.

More than 30 people were wounded in the bombing in Russia’s second city.

Tatarsky had been attending a patriotic meeting with supporters in the cafe as a guest speaker.

A video circulating on social media showed a young woman in a brown coat apparently entering the cafe with a cardboard box.

Images showed the box being placed on a table in the cafe before the woman sat down. Another video showed a statue being handed to Tatarsky.

In a brief excerpt of her interrogation released by the ministry, Darya Trepova, 26, appeared under duress as she sighed repeatedly.

When her interrogator asked if she knew why she was detained, she replied: “I would say for being at the scene of Vladlen Tatarsky’s murder… I brought the statuette there which blew up.”

Asked who gave it to her she responded: “Can I tell you later please?”

Russia’s anti-terrorism committee alleged the attack was organised by Ukrainian special services “with people co-operating with” opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, which has released a series of exposes of corruption involving the Putin entourage, said it was “very convenient” for the Kremlin to blame its critics.

Mr Navalny has been in jail ever since he returned to Russia from Germany in January 2021. He survived a nerve agent attack in Russia in August 2020, which was blamed on Russian FSB security service agents.

Foundation head Ivan Zhdanov said everything pointed to FSB agents themselves. “Naturally we have nothing to do with this,” he said, adding that Russia needed an external enemy in the form of Ukraine and a domestic one in Navalny’s team.

“It is frustrating not to get playing time at Olympics” –Jindo Morishita

Jindo Morishita

Accra Great Olympics’ Japanese attacker, Jindo Morishita, has opened up on his lack of game time under new coach, Bismark Kobi Mensah, in the ongoing Betpawa Premier League.

The 25-year-old joined the Dade Boys from Ebusua Dwarfs in the second transfer window, but has struggled to feature this season for the two-time premier league champion.

Speaking to Citi Sports in an exclusive interview, Jindo admits it is frustrating not to play but hopes his side, who are in precarious position, stays afloat this season.

“Well, you know as a player, you always want to deliver value on the pitch and if you are not given enough time, it is always frustrating.”

As I keep saying, it is not always about myself. It is about the team first so I respect the coach. I trust him and I am always preparing myself to be ready when called upon.

I always want to deliver a good performance in front of my Japanese family and the Olympic fans in general.”

Great Olympics secured a crucial victory against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, ending their five-game winless streak in the league under Bismark Kobi Mensah

The pressure was on Olympics to deliver, having lost three and drawn twice in their previous five matches, and they rose to the occasion with an impressive performance.

Accra Great Olympics will next face league leaders Aduana FC in the match week 26 of the Betpawa premier league.
