One person reportedly died at a funeral held at Wiamoase in the Sekyere South district of the Ashanti Region over the weekend.Several others are said to have sustained gunshot wounds.
Confirming the development to The Chronicle, the chief of Wiamoase, Nana Boakye Yiadom, explained that a funeral was held over the weekend (Saturday) for a young lady who had passed away. According to him, in the course of the funeral, fight broke out among the deceased lady’s family around 1pm with someone reportedly firing a gunshot which injured a number of people.

Nana Boakye Yiadom told The Chronicle via phone that the injured people who were four in number were rushed to the Seventh Adventist Day (SDA) Hospital at Wiamoase, where health officials removed pellets imbedded in their bodies.
Asked if there has been any arrest, the traditional leader responded that no one had been arrested, explaining that the crowd that attended the funeral was quite huge.
The traditional leader noted that even before the funeral, he informed the police to cancel a proposed wake for security reasons.
Nana Boakye Yiadom told The Chronicle that during the funeral, a number of offensive weapons were found among the attendees who were largely youth.
The assembly member for Gyidim Tanoso Electoral area, Enoch Boakye, confirmed the development.
According to Boakye, the youth that attended the funeral exhibited unruly conduct. He told the media that they had information that a group of miscreants would be attending the funeral on Saturday so they also tried to put measures in place to rein them in.
According to the assemblyman, whilst they were going to the cemetery, the said miscreants attacked a rickshaw (Pragyia)rider without any provocation, adding that a police officer who was also on duty was also attacked by the thugs.
