The Obuasi Senior High Technical School (O’SECTEC) has been closed down following students’ attack on the headmaster and caused destruction to several property over ritual claims.

The headmaster, Mr. Abdulai Zakaria who sustained multiple injuries has been transferred from AGA Hospital to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for further treatment.

After accusing the headmaster of engaging in ritual activities having been seen burying a foetus on Tuesday night, a claim that could not independently be confirmed by The Chronicle, the students engaged in disturbances that led to the destruction of two private cars belonging to some teachers and caused massive damage to the headmaster’s bungalow, furniture and television, among others.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Kwame Amankra in consultation with the Obuasi Municipal Security Committee and other relevant bodies subsequently closed down the school for students to go home.

Addressing the students earlier, the Regional Director said the students would be made to pay for everything they destroyed during the disturbances.
