Following the nomination last Monday of Nana Ama Bonsu by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the 15th Asantehemaa, she has adopted Nana Yaa Akyaa II as her stool name.
The name Nana Yaa Akyaa II was formally announced on Tuesday.
She is named after her grandmother, Nana Yaa Akyaa I, the 10th Asantehemaa, who reigned from 1884 to 1917 and remains one of the longest-serving Queen Mothers in Asante history.
By restoring the name, the new Queen mother has embraced a heritage of wisdom, strength and continuity.
The new Queen mother continues to receive congratulatory messages from well-wishers as she begins a new era of royal duties and services to Asanteman.
