Kejetia fire victims get GH¢100k succour from Alan Cash

Mr. John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has donated an amount of GH¢100,000 to traders whose stores were gutted by fire recently at the Kejetia Market Complex.

The gesture was his personal contribution towards alleviating the pains of the victims.

Accompanied by the Fire Service Commander and the security heads at the Kejetia Market Company Limited, Mr. Kyerematen and his team visited all the affected areas of the market during the visit last Friday.

The former Trade Minister shared the pain of the fire victims and assured them that he would engage the government to ensure the implementation of the measures in the report on the fire outbreak.

“I will liaise with government and authorities as they investigate the cause of the fire and ask that they implement remedial measures swiftly to forestall the recurrence of such a tragedy,” Mr. Kyerematen stated.

The presidential aspirant advised the traders to cooperate with the government as it conducts investigations into the unfortunate incident.

He also urged the traders to conduct their trading activities in accordance with the laid down regulations at the market in order not to continuously jeopardise the source of their livelihoods.

Nana Sakina, a representative of the market queens, who received Mr. Kyerematen’s donation, expressed appreciation at the gesture.

She described Mr. Kyerematen as caring and considerate having visited the traders twice in recent times and sympathising with them in their time of distress following fire outbreak two weeks ago.

She noted that it was quite refreshing that having visited them recently to learn of their challenges in the market, including those who sold at the race course market, Mr. Kyerematen had cut short his tour of the country to sympathise with them and donate such a huge amount to the fire victims.

Madam Sakina prayed that God opens ways for his aspirations for doling out such a huge amount to support the fire victims.

“For cutting short your nationwide tour to sympathise with us (traders) you have shown that you care. We pray for God’s favour for you as you seek to lead the NPP and Ghana,” Madam Sakina said.
