Residents of Essumeja in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region have benefited from the benevolence of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Led by their new leader, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, the Church last Thursday presented 1,500 pieces of clothing to sections of the community at a grand presentation ceremony at Essumeja, the hometown of the founder of the church.
The donation of cash, in addition to the clothes, forms part of the annual ritual of the late Apostle Safo to orphanages, prisons and members of the Essumeja community to mark his birthday (August 26).
Traditional leaders and elders received 300 pieces of clothes while family members of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo got 230 pieces of clothes.
Police personnel and health workers received 90 and 15 pieces, respectively, with 600 pieces going to the general public and community members, while Elders of the Asantemanso enclave got 10 pieces.
Nana Safo Akofena, accompanied by Lawyer Owusu Badu, Council of Elders and Pastors of the Church, assured the community that the donation and presentation would be sustained to the memory of his late father.
He said the Church will be fully established in the community to consolidate the mission and vision of the founder.
Earlier, Nana Akofena and his entourage had called on the Paramount Chief of the Essumeja Traditional Area, Nana Okyere Kusi Ntrama.
The Kristo Asafo Mission leader pledged to strengthen the already healthy relationship between the church, his family members and the community. He also promised to contribute to the development of the community.
The Essumejamanhene commended the leadership of the church for their generosity and called for unity among the family and children of the late industrialist, renowned pastor, inventor and entrepreneur, in order to protect his legacy.
