IGP Decorates Police Officer Promoted for Saving Lives During Aboso Fire

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has decorated Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters with his new rank of Chief Inspector in recognition of his bravery during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.

The decoration took place today, Monday, August 31, 2026, at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.

Chief Inspector Atubra was promoted for his exceptional courage and efforts in saving lives and protecting property during the fire incident on August 26, 2026.

The IGP commended him for his swift response, courage and commitment to duty, describing his actions as a reflection of the professionalism, bravery and dedication expected of police officers.

He said the officer’s conduct demonstrated the importance of putting public safety first, particularly during emergencies.

The promotion and decoration, the Police said, were intended to recognise and encourage exemplary service among personnel.
