False prophecies must be discouraged; Methodist Bishop

The Koforidua Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Dr Emmanuel Aware Kusi, has called on well-meaning leaders and the body of Christ to live above the principles of Christianity and discourage false prophecies.

Speaking at the dedication service and commemoration of 90 years anniversary of Emmanuel Methodist Church of Asiakwa in the Osiem circuit, under the Koforidua Diocese, Rt Rev. Dr Emmanuel Asare Kusi stated without mincing words that, he is not against prophecies but against false prophecies.

“My birth was foretold and it came to pass. One prophet told my mother when she would conceive and asked her to go to her hometown to deliver when the time was due and she did that”, he stressed.

“The prophet even told my mother to name me Emmanuel and that’s the name she eventually gave me. So I am not against prophecy, but these false prophecies are overshadowing the true ones” – Rt Rev Dr Emmanuel Asare Kusi said.

Delivering his sermon on the theme: “Living The Transformed Life In Jesus Christ”, which was taken from the book of Romans 12: 1-2, Rt .Rev. Dr Emmanuel Asare Kusi urged the congregation to, as matter of fact, live a deserving life of Christians, rely on him for his glory and shy away from false prophecies.

The programme brought various Clergies, congregation, chiefs and the citizenry from various circuits to Asiakwa Methodist church, which is one of the oldest Methodist church in the Diocese.

Other dignitaries and opinion leaders of the town, representatives from the camp of Dr Kingsley Agyemang, Registrar of Ghana Scholarship Secretariat and former Director of Ghana Prisons Service, amongst others.

He urged them to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God because all things are possible with God as they try their best to do the work wholeheartedly.

They should live a transformed life in Jesus Christ and offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship, adding the pandemics, wars, turmoil, hardships and disorders the world is experiencing are the signs of the end times.

Rev. Kofi Amoh, who is in charge of the Asiakwa Circuit, also advised the entire congregation to be law abiding and good citizens, despite the current challenges.
