Bagbin lauds traditional rulers for protecting family values

The Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin has expressed his profound gratitude to the traditional authorities in Ghana for the protection and upholding of family values in the country.

He reiterated his strong support for the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, which was unanimously passed by Parliament.

Mr. Peter Bamfo, aide to the Speaker, who delivered an address on his behalf at the 2024 Suma Akwantu Kesie Festival in Suma in the Bono Region on Saturday, March 23, 2024 emphasised the significance of upholding traditional values and preserving Ghanaian family values.

The passage of the bill, according to the Speaker, signifies a triumph of the country’s democratic principles and underscores its commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

He urged traditional leaders to continue advocating for the preservation of Ghana’s true values.

Speaker Bagbin commended the Suma Traditional Council for its forward-thinking leadership in revitalising the festival, as a drive for development within the traditional area.

He also commended the Council’s initiative to establish an ultra-modern social Center in honour of the late Nana Kwadwo Adinkra, the inventor of Adinkra symbols.

He disclosed that the Adinkra Centre would serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity and provide invaluable resources for youth training, cultural education and socio-economic empowerment.

The Speaker also called on the residents of Suma to unite in supporting their leaders to ensure the continued development of the area.
