The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has called on students, teachers and parents to jointly end vandalism, mob justice and other forms of indiscipline in schools across the Ashanti Region.
He warned against such acts because they sabotage educational progress and endanger teaching and learning.
Dr. Amoakohene gave the admonition at the official launch of the 70th anniversary celebrations of Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) marking the year-long activities of the occasion.
He urged students to uphold discipline, respect authority and cultivate positive attitudes that will shape them into responsible citizens, stressing that character formation is as critical as academic excellence in preparing young people for life’s challenges.
The minister emphasised that building strong character requires a collective effort and encouraged students to internalise values such as respect, honesty, responsibility, tolerance and self-discipline, while appealing to parents to complement the work of teachers by providing sound moral guidance and discipline at home.
He also charged teachers to see themselves as role models whose conduct and mentorship can leave a lasting imprint on students’ character, and to pay greater attention to their moral development as they nurture future leaders.
Dr. Amoakohene advised students to always channel complaints and grievances through the appropriate school and education authorities instead of resorting to violence, vandalism or mob action, which he said undermine the very institutions meant to shape their futures.

Meanwhile, Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhasan, the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong Municipality has assured Kumasi Academy of the Assembly’s full backing in its quest to attain Grade A status.
He said the assembly would collaborate with the school’s management, old students, traditional leaders, parents and other relevant stakeholders to identify the institution’s pressing needs and find lasting solutions to challenges that could impede its progress and contribute to improving the quality of education and expanding opportunities for young people in the municipality.
He explained that the elevation of KUMACA to Grade A status would enhance the school’s standing while creating a more favourable environment for students to excel academically, nurture their talents and acquire the skills required to make meaningful contributions to society.
The MCE described education as a fundamental driver of development and stressed that its advancement could not be left to government alone.
He called for a united effort involving local authorities, school administrators, teachers, parents, past students and communities to support the growth of educational institutions.

He urged the leadership, students, staff and other stakeholders of Kumasi Academy to remain united and sustain their support for the institution as it built on the achievements recorded over the past 70 years.
