Mr. Mba Zakaria, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya North Assembly, together with traditional leaders, has cut the sod for the commencement of the government’s 24-Hour Economy Market at Asuofua.
The project is funded by the Government of Ghana and will be constructed by DarlingTek Company Ltd.
The DCE said at the sod-cutting ceremony that the project reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to enable market women and business owners to trade round the clock, thereby easing the financial and economic burden on citizens.

According to him, it is the NDC government that consistently provides markets and other infrastructural facilities to the area. He added that the government would continue to share the national cake equally among Ghanaians, irrespective of political affiliation.
He urged the contractor to prioritise employment of local youth with entrepreneurial and technical skills during the execution of the project.
The DCE expressed optimism that the project would be completed on schedule to serve residents of the district and beyond, while boosting economic activity in the area.
He stressed that the Assembly would, as a matter of urgency, relocate market women who ply their trade on the site to make way for the project to take off and be completed as scheduled.
Engineer Daniel Yeboah, the Project Manager, indicated that the 24-Hour Economy Market will comprise a police post, fire post, day care centre, pharmacy shop, clinic, women’s development banks, warehouse, toilet facilities, meat shop, cold stores, restaurant, food court, supermarket, guest rooms, offices for officials and 300 lockable and open shops.
Nana Afrane Boateng II, the Adiembra Dikro, commended the President and the government for their commitment to developmental projects aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
Madam Darlington Kegbe, Chief Executive Officer of DarlingTek Company, urged the Assembly to expedite the relocation of the market women to make way for the start of the project, to ensure completion within two years.
