Sarki Alhaji Abdulai Ali, Asanteman Zongo Nkosuohene, has donated a cow to the inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons.

He was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Rhaman Zakaria, to present the gift to the inmates.

He also feted thousands of residents of the Zongo community in commemoration of the celebration of Eid ul-Fitr at his residence at Dichemso in Kumasi.

Items donated to the beneficiaries included food packages, rams, chunks of beef and cash.

Hundreds of underprivileged thronged the benefactors residence

The Zongo Nkosuohene, who set aside five days to host thousands of well-wishers and the vulnerable, affirmed that he was committed to improving lives and transforming communities through philanthropic outreach.

He said he organised initiatives to support the needy, irrespective of tribe or religion.

Addressing beneficiaries of his gesture, Alhaji Ali urged Ghanaians to live within the bounds of decency and modesty to champion peace, unity and promote charity advocacy.

He also counselled Muslim youth to avoid negative behaviours and encourage peaceful co-existence with people of all faiths.

“Eid ul-Adha is not just about offering sacrifices but represents love, joy, compassion, peace, forgiveness and unity”, he said.

He emphasised that the importance of the generosity was to extend a helping hand to the less privileged through one’s wealth.

The Nkosuohene advised the youth in Zongo communities and the nation at large, to refrain from consuming hard drugs, as Islam religion prohibits the practice.

The Chief of Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of Ashanti Region, Nana Amoapim Brenya who graced the occasion, commended the Sarki for his marvellous charitable advocacy and selflessness pointing out that the foundational pillars required to accelerate development within neighbourhoods included the act of supporting the vulnerable.

Nana Brenya also condemned the misuse of social media to hurl insults and abusive language particularly, by the youth and urged them to embrace constructive engagement and mutual respect. He tasked the youth to prioritise formal and informal education to build personal credibility.
