Zijin Golden Ridge Limited has donated 13 air conditioning units worth GHS 83,125 to the Abirem Government Hospital as part of its ongoing commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services within its host communities.
The air conditioners will be installed in critical areas of the hospital to support the effective operation and maintenance of sensitive medical equipment that require controlled temperatures to function optimally.
Speaking during the presentation, the medical superintendent of the Abirem Government Hospital, Dr. Patrick Atta Larbi Sakyi, commended the company for its longstanding support to the facility.
“Zijin has been so helpful to the Abirem Government Hospital in terms of logistics, equipment, and infrastructure. This hospital was a health centre previously, but through the support of Zijin, it has now become a fully-fledged hospital,” he said.
He explained that equipment such as laboratory analyzers and machines used in diagnostic services require stable temperatures to operate efficiently and that the donation would help safeguard these investments while enhancing service delivery.
For Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, supporting the district hospital aligns with the company’s commitment to community well-being.
According to Social Responsibility Manager Paul Suchmann Apenu, the hospital remains a critical healthcare facility for residents across the company’s host communities.
“It excites the company to provide support to the district hospital because this is the only district hospital within our mine host communities.
We considered the request and believed supporting the hospital with these air conditioners would contribute significantly to the efficient operation and maintenance of critical medical equipment and ultimately improve healthcare delivery,” he said.
The donation adds to several interventions undertaken by the company to support healthcare, education, infrastructure, and socio-economic development within its host communities.
