Match day 12 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League kicks off tomorrow with Accra Hearts of Oak engaging Vision FC at home.
As the league table continues to take shape, teams and their technical staff will be eager to secure positive results that could improve their standings.
However, some of the venues hosting these league games fall short of the required standards, often disrupting the flow of play.
The poor state of certain pitches has also discouraged many fans from attending matches, as they feel the facilities are not fit to host top-flight football.
This week, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams visited two major stadia in the country, the Essipong and Baba Yara Sports Stadia.
During the visit, he acknowledged the government’s awareness of the deteriorating condition of local pitches and emphasised that the inspections form part of a broader plan to renovate facilities nationwide.
Kofi Adams further assured Ghanaians that the government remains committed to honoring its promises.
This initiative is a positive step, and if fully carried out, it could significantly enhance and promote the league. Improved infrastructure would also help attract investors and elevate the overall quality of the competition.
Below are some of the match day 12 fixtures;
Hearts host Vision FC
Hearts of Oak welcome Vision FC in a Round 12 clash that promises intensity, resilience and tactical discipline, as both teams look to climb further up the Ghana Premier League table.
The Phobians come into this fixture sitting 6th with 18 points, having recorded 4 wins, 6 draws, and just 1 defeat from their opening 11 matches.
Though they have struggled to consistently convert draws into victories, their defensive solidity has been a major highlight conceding only 4 goals, the best defensive record in the league so far. Their recent form, however, paints a mixed picture, showing a team that is hard to beat but still searching for a sharper edge in attack.
Vision FC, on the other hand sit 10th with 14 points, showing a near-identical pattern of tight games and slim margins. They demonstrate a side that has been competitive in most encounters but lacks the killer instinct when it matters most. Their recent run suggests inconsistency, though they remain a disciplined side capable of frustrating opponents.
While Hearts of Oak boast the stronger squad and defensive structure, Vision FC’s organised midfield and counter-attacking setup make them a dangerous opponent, especially against teams that dominate possession but struggle to break down low blocks. Hearts will rely heavily on their compact defending and ability to control the tempo, while Vision will look to exploit transitional moments.
Asante Kotoko, Medeama face off in Kumasi
Asante Kotoko lock horns with Medeama SC in one of the standout fixtures of the weekend, with both sides sitting firmly in the top four and separated by just two points on the league table.

Kotoko come into the match placed 4th with 20 points, having recorded 5 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat. The Porcupine Warriors boast one of the best defensive records in the league, conceding only six goals, but their run shows a team struggling to turn tight games into victories. Playing at home, however, Kotoko will be determined to rediscover their winning edge.
Medeama sit 3rd with 22 points from 6 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat, and their recent form highlights their consistency and resilience. With 15 goals scored and just 6 conceded, the Yellow and Mauve remain one of the league’s most balanced sides, capable of controlling games and grinding out results under pressure.
The head-to-head record supports the tight nature of this rivalry. In their last five meetings, both teams have claimed two wins each, with one draw between them. Their most recent encounter in June saw Kotoko edge a dramatic 3–2 victory, but Medeama have historically given Kotoko problems, especially in midfield battles.
With both clubs eyeing the top of the table, this fixture carries huge stakes. Kotoko will lean on their defensive shape and home advantage, while Medeama arrive with confidence and a proven ability to trouble the Reds.
A tense, tactical, and fiercely contested match is expected one likely to be decided by fine margins as two title-chasing sides meet in Kumasi.
Bibiani Gold Stars welcome Aduana FC
Bibiani Gold Stars host Aduana FC in a compelling Premier League encounter, with both sides chasing important points for their respective ambitions. Gold Stars enter the match placed 5th with 19 points, having shown flashes of brilliance but struggling with consistency across their last five games. Their recent run reflects a team capable of strong performances, especially at home, but still searching for rhythm.

Aduana arrive as the league leaders with 23 points, built on 7 wins, 2 draws, and 2 defeats, and boasting one of the most efficient attacks and disciplined defenses in the league. Their recent form shows a side that is steady, confident, and difficult to break down.
The head-to-head record, however, has leaned heavily in Aduana’s favour in recent seasons. The Ogya Boys have won three of the last five meetings, all by clean sheets, including a 2–0 victory in March. Gold Stars, though, have claimed their own success at home, beating Aduana 2–0 and 1–0 in their last two meetings in Bibiani.

This sets up an intriguing dynamic: Aduana’s dominance in the fixture versus Gold Stars’ home advantage. With the league leaders looking to strengthen their hold at the top and Gold Stars eyeing a push into the top four, a competitive and hard-fought match is expected.
Both teams have reason to believe they can take all three points, making this clash one of the standout fixtures of the round.
