Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has visited Fuveme in the Atiteti Electoral Area of the Anloga District, accompanied by members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), following reports that the sea had broken into the Volta River, causing widespread destruction to communities in the area.

The minister was received on the ground by the Anloga District Chief Executive, Sandra Seyram Kpedor, and her team. Residents and local leaders briefed the delegation on the scale of the devastation, explaining that the community of Kporkporgbor had been completely cut off, while Fuveme itself was washed away years ago, forcing many residents to relocate to Agorkedzi.

What the delegation witnessed, by all accounts, confirmed the gravity of the threat facing the remaining communities in the corridor.

Minister Gunu assured residents that he would submit a full report to President John Dramani Mahama and expressed confidence that the administration would respond decisively to the crisis.

The minister also welcomed an update from Pascal Agbagba, Volta Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), that officials from the national headquarters are expected in the area to conduct further assessment and coordinate a response.
