A devastating rainstorm has displaced, at least, 30 adults and 40 children at Assin Ochiso, a farming community in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

The storm, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, wreaked havoc in the town by badly damaging 25 houses, leading to the displacement of the victims.

Assin South District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Kwabina Essumang, told The Chronicle that the victims were compelled to stay with friends and other family members who were not affected.

He said: “Unfortunately, our stocks are currently depleted, so in times like this, we basically rely on the DCE, MP and the Regional NADMO Office for assistance to support the victims.”

He added: “We will quickly forward the assessments to the NADMO Regional Office to seek relief items to help them, because, presently, there is nothing we can offer.”
