The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters–The Gambia (EFF-Gambia), Prince Ebrahim Sanyang, has outlined an ambitious security and governance agenda, pledging to decentralise emergency and policing services while pursuing what he describes as a zero-tolerance approach to corruption if elected.
Prince Sanyang said security, justice and transparent governance would be among the priorities of an EFF-Gambia administration, arguing that national development and prosperity could not be sustained without public safety and accountability.
Under his proposed security reforms, the EFF-Gambia leader said his government would establish a “One District, One Fire and Rescue” initiative to improve emergency response across the country.
The policy, according to him, is intended to address delays in responding to fires and other disasters, particularly in communities far from existing emergency services.
Prince Sanyang also pledged to introduce a “One Community, One Police Station” initiative, which he said would bring policing closer to communities, improve responses to crime and help rebuild public confidence in law enforcement.
“The model will move security from being centralised and distant to being present, community-owned and preventive,” he said.
He further identified border security as a key component of his proposed reforms, saying his administration would seek to protect The Gambia’s sovereignty while facilitating legitimate trade and the free movement of people.
On governance, Prince Sanyang promised a crackdown on corruption, including the public disclosure of government contracts, real-time budget monitoring systems accessible to citizens and the publication of annual performance reports by ministries and state agencies.
“Every dalasi spent must be traceable by the people who earned it,” he said, adding: “We will replace secrecy with transparency and impunity with accountability.”
He said his proposed administration would also pursue digitised procurement, open contracting and greater public oversight, which he argued would help reduce waste and leakages in public expenditure.
According to Prince Sanyang, savings generated through improved transparency and accountability could be redirected towards programmes in food security, housing, healthcare and job creation.
The EFF-Gambia leader maintained that his proposed Security, Justice and Transparent Governance agenda would provide the environment necessary to attract investment, create jobs and promote national development.
