Reconstruction of Dome-Kitase Road begins next month

The Government will soon cut sod for the commencement of work on the 23 kilometres-Dome Roundabout Road in the Greater Accra Region and Kitase in the Eastern Region region.

The project, estimated at USD 1,626,109 is being funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and the Government of Ghana.

Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways and Mr Oliver Acquah, Chief Executive Officer, First Sky Group, a local construction company, today signed the contract to pave way for the project. It would be completed in 24 months.

The project includes the provision of 16.3km two-lane single carriageway with asphaltic concrete surfacing; provision of 2.8km dual carriageway arterial, with auxiliary lanes at both sides for drop off/pick up, with asphaltic concrete surfacing and the provision of 1km two-lane single carriageway for Ashesi University, with asphaltic concrete surfacing.

Mr Amoako-Attah said it would enhance socio-economic activities for people living along the stretch. He said it would also facilitate trade and the economic integration of the two Regions, as well as help to reduce the frequent breakdowns of vehicles on the stretch, which affected both motorists and businesses.

The Minister said he was confident that the First Sky Limited would deliver the project on time and “with all competence and efficiency.”

“We have gone through the entire procurement processes and the best contractor has emerged and I want to assure the company that the Government will support our own to deliver this project on schedule,” he said.

Mr Oliver Acquah, Chief Executive Officer, First Sky Group, thanked the Government for the confidence reposed in the company and assured that the project would be done on schedule. GNA
