The Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested seven suspects in connection with the theft of three unregistered Hyundai Elantra and Sonata vehicles.
The arrests follow a complaint received on May 25, 2026, concerning the theft of an unregistered blue Hyundai Elantra from its owner at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
Acting on the report, the CVET launched a digital and intelligence-led operation, which led to the tracking of the stolen vehicle to a hideout at Roman Down, near Asamankese.

In a coordinated effort with the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) detachment in the area, the team apprehended the suspects and recovered two additional stolen vehicles found in their possession.
The suspects have been identified as Acheampong Otuo Kofi, also known as “Levels,” 28; Kpachen Ebenezer, 26; Fianko Isaac, also known as “Yaw,” 35; Besah Elizabeth, 24; David Kudalor, 28; Enoch Acheampong, 38; and Solomon Odei, 35.
All seven suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the three recovered vehicles have been impounded.

Police say efforts are ongoing to trace and retrieve more stolen vehicles believed to be linked to the group.
The Service has also urged the public to provide information on suspected car theft syndicates operating within their communities.
