Passenger gives birth on Emirates flight from Tokyo to Dubai

Emirates flight

An Emirates flight from Tokyo Narita to Dubai International on January 19 touched down with an extra traveler on board, after a passenger gave birth in the air.

The new arrival made their appearance on the 12-hour overnight Flight EK 319, which landed on schedule despite the medical emergency, the airline confirmed to CNN.

The passenger and baby were assisted by Emirates cabin crew, who all receive medical response training so they can handle situations such as baby deliveries or heart attacks.

Emirates told CNN that the parent and infant “were in stable condition and, upon arrival in Dubai, were met by local medical staff. The health and safety of our crew and passengers is of paramount importance.”

Births on board planes are relatively rare. Emirates’ policy when it comes to pregnant travelers is similar to that of many other commercial airlines: Travelers can fly up to their seventh month of pregnancy unless they have any medical complications or concerns.

Russia MPs vote to hide details of their tax returns from public view

Russia’s lower house of parliament

Russia’s lower house of parliament has voted in favour of a bill that will lift the requirement for lawmakers to make their annual income and assets reports public, in a move that will significantly decrease transparency.

According to a statement on the website of the State Duma, after 1 March publicly available information about Russian lawmakers’ income declarations will not allow for identification of them.

Lawmakers will still be obliged to submit their declarations to the tax authorities every year and a “summary” will be released based on this information.

“This is about the protection of personal data,” one lawmaker, Pavel Krasheninnikov, was quoted as saying on the Duma website.

The bill was approved on its third and final readings on Wednesday.

It must still be approved by the Federation Council, Russia’s upper house, and signed into law by the president, Vladimir Putin – usually a formality.

Hundreds protest incessant power cuts in South Africa

Democratic Alliance members during a protest

Hundreds of people have taken to the streets of Johannesburg to protest a prolonged energy crisis that has caused record power cuts in South Africa.

The demonstrators gathered on Wednesday in the centre of the financial capital of Africa’s most industrialised nation to march on the headquarters of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party.

Most were dressed in blue, the colour of the main opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, which organised the rally.

Some held signs reading, “Enough is enough,” “Power to the people” and “Load shedding is killing jobs.”

Scheduled blackouts, known as load shedding, have burdened South Africa for years as the state-owned energy firm Eskom has failed to keep pace with demand and maintain its ageing coal power infrastructure.

But the outages have reached new extremes over the past 12 months. Lights go off several times a day, sometimes for almost 12 hours in total.

Tanzania opposition leader Lissu returns from exile

Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu

Tanzanian opposition leader and former presidential candidate Tundu Lissu returned home after more than two years in exile in Europe to a cheering crowd on Wednesday, after the government lifted a ban on political rallies.

A former lawmaker and a fierce critic of the government, Lissu initially left the country to seek treatment abroad after he was shot 16 times, mostly in his lower abdomen, in his car by unknown gunmen in the administrative capital Dodoma in 2017. He had been arrested eight times in the year leading up to the attack.

Lissu was welcomed by a large gathering of his supporters at the Julius Nyerere International Airport, after flying in from Brussels before making his way to address a rally in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam.

He was seen waving his Chadema party flag while sitting atop a car as he greeted supporters who had gathered along the roads and were following him on foot, cars and motorcycles.

Shooting of DR Congo plane an ‘act of war’

DR Congo has several Sukhoi-25 aircraft

DR Congo has declared Rwanda’s shooting of one of its fighter jets an “act of war”, amid mounting tensions.

Rwanda’s government said it took “defensive measures” against a plane that had violated its airspace – a claim denied by DR Congo.

This is a major escalation following months of conflict in eastern DR Congo, which has forced some 400,000 people to flee their homes.

DR Congo, the US and UN experts accuse Rwanda of backing the M23 rebel group.

Rwanda has denied this and blames the Congolese government for the conflict in the mineral-rich region.

In the 1990s, Rwanda twice sent troops into its much larger neighbour, sparking a huge conflict involving at least nine countries that led to the death of millions of people.

Images shared on social media, which have not yet been verified by the BBC, show a Sukhoi-25 aircraft being shot at while flying at low altitude between the towns of Goma in DR Congo and Gisenyi in Rwanda, which straddle their common border.

Russia slams Germany for sending Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine

Leopard battle tank

Moscow has slammed Berlin’s move to supply Ukraine with battle tanks and accused Germany of abandoning its “historical responsibility to Russia” arising from Nazi crimes in World War II.

The Russian embassy in Germany said on Wednesday the decision to send 14 German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv and allow allies to re-export the same models would worsen the war in Ukraine to a new level and lead to “permanent escalation”.

“This extremely dangerous decision takes the conflict to a new level of confrontation and contradicts the statements of German politicians about the unwillingness of the Federal Republic of Germany to be drawn into it,” Ambassador Sergei Nechayev said.

“It destroys the remnants of mutual trust, causes irreparable damage to the already deplorable state of Russian-German relations, and casts doubt on the possibility of their normalisation in the foreseeable future.”

Kyiv has for months called for Western tanks, arguing they are desperately needed to give troops firepower and mobility. Moscow has repeatedly said Western-supplied tanks will “burn” and dismissed suggestions they will affect the outcome of the 11-month conflict, warning they will only prolong Ukrainian suffering.

Unique Benefits of Vitamin E

0
Vitamin E

Though vitamin E is often thought of as a single compound, it’s actually a group of eight fat-soluble compounds with powerful antioxidant effects.

Of these eight chemical forms, alpha-tocopherol best meets the dietary requirements of humans.

Vitamin E exists naturally in certain foods, including seeds, nuts, some vegetables, and some fortified products. You can also take it as a dietary supplement.

It plays many roles in your body. It’s perhaps best known for its antioxidant effects, protecting your cells from oxidative damage by neutralizing harmful molecules called free radicals. In addition, it’s needed for proper immune function and cellular signaling.

That’s why it’s not surprising that research suggests taking vitamin E supplements may benefit your health in several ways.

  1. May reduce markers of oxidative stress and improve antioxidant defenses

Oxidative stress is a condition that occurs when there’s an imbalance between your body’s antioxidant defenses and the production and accumulation of compounds called reactive oxygen species (ROS). This can lead to cellular damage and increased disease risk.

Because vitamin E acts as a powerful antioxidant in the body, studies have shown that supplementing with high doses of it can reduce markers of oxidative stress and boost antioxidant defenses in some populations.

For example, a 2018 study in 54 people with diabetic nephropathy — kidney damage caused by high blood sugar — found that supplementing with 800 IU of vitamin E per day for 12 weeks significantly increased levels of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) compared with a placebo.

GPx is a group of antioxidant enzymes that protect your cells from oxidative damage.

A 2021 study also showed that supplementing with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin C daily for 8 weeks reduced markers of oxidative stress, such as malondialdehyde and ROS, in women with endometriosis.

  1. May reduce heart disease risk factors

Having high blood pressure and high levels of blood lipids such as LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides may increase your risk of developing heart disease.

Promisingly, research suggests that vitamin E supplements may help reduce heart disease risk factors such as these in some people.

A 2019 review of 18 studies found that, compared with placebo treatments, vitamin E supplements significantly reduced systolic but not diastolic blood pressure — the top and bottom numbers of blood pressure readings, respectively.

Some studies also show that taking vitamin E with omega-3 supplements may reduce LDL and triglyceride levels in people with metabolic syndrome — a cluster of conditions, including high blood fat levels, that increases the risk of heart disease and other health conditions.

  1. May benefit those with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

NAFLD includes a number of conditions that cause an accumulation of fat in the liver in people who drink little or no alcohol.

According to research findings, vitamin E supplements may improve some aspects of health in people with NAFLD.

A 2021 review of eight studies found that supplementing with vitamin E reduced levels of the liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), decreased blood lipid levels, and improved liver health in people with NAFLD.

Elevated AST and ALT levels can indicate liver inflammation and damage in people with NAFLD, so lower levels are favorable.

  1. May help manage dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is a condition characterized by severe and frequent menstrual pain, such as cramps and pelvic pain.

Promisingly, research suggests vitamin E supplements may reduce pain in women with this condition.

In a 2018 study in 100 women with dysmenorrhea, taking 200 IU of vitamin E daily relieved menstrual pain more than a placebo. The effects were even better when the vitamin was combined with an omega-3 supplement containing 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA.

Additionally, a 2021 study showed that supplementing with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin C daily for 8 weeks helped reduce the severity of pelvic pain and dysmenorrhea in women with endometriosis.

5–8. Other potential health benefits

Vitamin E supplements have also been linked to several other health benefits:

  1. May benefit skin health. Vitamin E supplements may be helpful for those with certain skin disorders, such as eczema. However, research is currently limited, and more studies are needed to learn more about this potential benefit.
  2. May benefit cognitive health. Maintaining optimal vitamin E levels and taking supplements may help protect against cognitive decline. But it’s still unclear whether the supplements benefit people with cognitive conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
  3. May benefit older adults. Because vitamin E plays important roles in health, such as reducing inflammation and improving immune function, supplements may benefit people who have increased needs or don’t get enough in their diets, such as some older adults.
  4. May improve lung function. Studies have shown that vitamin E supplements could improve lung function and certain symptoms of asthma in children and adults.

Feature: ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED? NOT SO

0
Pastor David Leroy Matthews -Sozo Ministries, Ohio

Anyone who did not read last week’s newspaper article, should buy one, it is very important for your health.

There are many sick and dead born again saints of the Lord ALL MIGHTY (EL) God because they were not told the definitions of the words. We should die of old age, grateful of the way our Saviour took care of us.

I have heard many times and I am quite sure that there will be those who read this, have been involved or have heard of also some sinner’s family member, friend or stranger is on their death bed, a pastor or someone, goes to them to get them saved before they die and go to hell, so they have the dying person say their version of the sinners prayer. And the report goes out that they got saved before they died.

If their repentance was real, they were born again but they did not get SAVED (Made Whole).

They were robbed of a chance to, because the definition were not told them, if they were told and believed, they would be back home taking care of their loved ones. YASHUA (JESUS) said: Matthew 9:1-6[1] And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.[2]

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.[3] And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.[4]

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?[5] For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?[6]But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. We the born again church world were born on water down gospel.

Below was the sinner’s prayer by Kenith Haygain: Father, I believe you love me and that you sent your only son to die for me.

I turn from my way of doing things, and in turn towards Jesus. I receive the free gift of His life in exchange for my old life.

I place my faith and trust in Jesus alone to save me. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and forgiving all my sin. I receive and confess you as my savior and Lord.

I want to follow and serve you all the days of my life. Let today be the beginning of my new journey as a member of your family.

Thank you for being the way for me to come home. Amen .= ‘ anyone who came to the Lord with this sinner’s prayer, was robbed with the chance to be made whole Let truth be preached Salvation = 4991  DEFINITIONS Greek – Soteria, rescue or safety, or morally; Deliver, health, salvation, save, saving Luke 1:69 hath raised up a horn of salvation for us 1:77 knowledge of salvation unto his people 19:9 This day is salvation come to this house John 4:22 we worship; for salvation is of the Jews Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other 13:26 to you is the word of this salvation sent 16:17 which shew unto us the way of salvation Rom 1:16 power of God unto salvation to everyone 10:10 mouth confession is made unto salvation 11:11 salvation is come unto the gentiles 13:11 salvation nearer than we believed 2 Cor 1:6 it is for your consolation and salvation 6:2 in the day of salvation have I succored 2 times, behold now is the day of salvation 7:10 sorrow worketh repentance to salvation Eph 1:13 of truth, the gospel of your salvation Phil 1:19 turn to my salvation through your prayer 1:28 but to you of salvation, and that of God 2:12 work out your own salvation, with fear and 1 Thes 5:8 and for a helmet, the hope of salvation 5:9 but to obtain the salvation by our Lord Jesus 2 Thes 2:13 you to obtain salvation through sanctification of 2 Tim 2:10 also obtain salvation which is in Christ 3:15 are able to make thee wise unto salvation Heb 1:14 for them who shall be heirs of salvation 2:3 if we neglect so great salvation 2:10 make the captain of their salvation perfect 5:9 author of eternal salvation unto all men 6:9 you, and all things that accompany salvation 9:28 the second time without sin unto salvation 1 Pet 1:5 power of God through faith unto salvation 1:9 your faith, even the salvation of your souls 1:10 of which salvation the prophets have2 Pet 3:15 the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation Jude vs 3 to write unto you of the common salvation Rev 7:10 Salvation to our God which sitteth upon 12:10 Now is come salvation and strenght, and 19:1 saying, Alleluia; salvation, and glory SAVED 4982 SOZO (DEFINITIONS)= ‘safe’; To save i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively) Heal, preserve, save (self) Do well, be (make) whole Matt  10:22 Endureth to the end shall be saved 19:25 amazed, saying, who then can be saved? 24:13 unto the end, the same shall be saved 24:22 there should no flesh be saved 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot Mark 10:26 Themselves, who then can be saved? 13:13 unto the end, the same shall be saved 13:20

“We don’t need coach Kwesi Appiah at the moment’ -Ntow Gyan

0
Coach Kwesi Appiah

Former Ghanaian footballer, Ntow Gyan has advised coach Kwesi Appiah to stay away from the Black Stars job at the moment to maintain the respect he earned during his previous two spell.

The Ghana senior men national team has been without a substantive head coach since Otto Addo’s resignation after the 202 World Cup and the GFA are still in search for his successor.

Over 100 coaches worldwide have exhibited strong interest in taking up the role including the ex- Al Khartoum coach who was the first local coach to send the Black Stars to the World Cup.

Ntow Gyan after routing for Chris Hughton, believes Kwesi Appiah wouldn’t the right person to lead the four time African champions at the moment and has urged him to forgo the idea of return to maintain his dignity.

“Kwesi Appiah has been in charge of the Black Stars twice and is seeking for a third coming. I don’t want Ghanaians to be lambasting him, he has done his part for Ghana during his playing days and as a coach so I will personally advise him to concentrate on the job he is doing at the moment.”

“I know he did not apply for the job on his own, I know there are people who are pushing for his return but I want to be frank, it will not help him. He should concentrate on his job. He is respected because of what he has done for the nation so he should maintain that respect.” Credit: kickgh.com
