The management of the National Service Secretariat (NSS) and the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) have begun discussions for collaboration in revenue generation and sanitation. As part of the collaboration, the parties would explore innovative ways of putting their human resources to effective use, so as to increase their revenue base.

The initiative would also see the two state agencies prioritising the deployment of the available human resources, including national service personnel, to help improve sanitation in the municipality.

The proposed collaboration came up when an 11-member delegation from the AWMA paid a working visit to the Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, Assibey Antwi, in his office last Friday.

The delegation, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ayawaso West, Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah, congratulated Mr. Assibey Antwi on his appointment as the Executive Director of the NSS.

The visit also afforded the team the opportunity to learn about the innovative programmes the NSS had introduced under its new mission, dubbed “Deployment for Employment.”

Mr. Assibey Antwi acknowledged the effort the executives of the Ayawaso West Municipality, in terms of investment drive, towards development in the area. He observed that it was never enough to be satisfied with any level of development, when a vast opportunity existed to increase productivity in the municipality.

The NSS Executive Director thanked the delegation for the welcome gesture from the MCE and the management of the Municipal Office.

He assured them that with the NSS Headquarters located in the Ayawaso West Municipality, opportunities abound for the two bodies to explore areas under the proposed partnership which was expected to be beneficial to both partners.

Impressed with the developments at the NSS, Ahinkorah commended Assibey Antwi on the gains made within the short time of his assumption of office as the Executive Director.

“I have always known him to be a man of great ideas. I know he is smart, but for what we have seen and heard, we are proud to witness achievements of the NSS so far,” she confessed.
