The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ashanti Ports Services Limited (APSL), Mr. Isaac Afum, who has won the bid for the construction of the Boankra Inland Port, has given the assurance that the project would be completed within two years.

He was optimistic that the construction of the Inland Port would kick-start this month, following the award of the contract to Justmoh Constructions to carry out the project.

The construction firm has been requested to mobilise to site to commence the works latest by Monday 8th August 2022, in order to forestall any further delays in the project, according to a correspondence dated July 25, 2022 and signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Afum.

The CEO of the Ashanti Ports Services Limited has confirmed the move on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, last week.

Mr. Afum reiterated that the construction firm had two years to complete the project and hand it over to the government.

According to him, over 7000 workers would be employed upon completion, and that it would create other informal job opportunities to others within the region and beyond.

He said the project comprised a Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) terminal, which would facilitate the exportation of cocoa from the Ashanti Region to the neighbouring countries.

He stressed that both COCOBOD and Tema Oil Refinery would get terminals within the port which would ensure that cocoa from the Ashanti Region was easily exported to the other neighboring countries.

Mr. Afum expressed the hope that the proposed railway line would be constructed on time for the smooth operation of the port.
