Leading members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), including the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey were among top party stalwarts who attended the one week observance of the late Andrews Kwame Amankwah, father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi.

Mr Andrews Kwame Amankwah, father-in-law of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, is scheduled to be laid to rest on May 30, 2026 a fact made known during the solemn one week observance held in his honour.
The ceremony attracted a large gathering of party executives, government appointees, sympathisers and members of the general public, who converged to mourn with the bereaved family following the tragic passing of Mr Amankwah.
Mr Andrews Kwame Amankwah was reportedly killed in a robbery attack, an incident that has left the family grief stricken and drawn widespread condemnation and expressions of sympathy from across the political divide.
The First Lady led a delegation of government officials to commiserate with the family, while the NDC National Chairman, together with other party executives, attended the observance as a mark of solidarity and support.
Also present was a delegation from the Ghana Journalists Association, led by its President, which paid a courtesy call on Mr Gyamfi to express condolences and offer support during the difficult period.
The funeral, scheduled for May 30, 2026 is expected to attract a broad cross section of political leaders, media practitioners and community members.
