The Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has commissioned a newly constructed six-unit first-floor classroom block at Sakafia Senior High School to enhance teaching and learning.
The facility, which includes offices and stores, forms part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for students and teachers in the Asawase area.
Sakafia Senior High School is also benefiting from other major infrastructure projects, including a 2,000-seat assembly hall and a four-storey girls’ dormitory. The Asawase MP who also doubles as the Minister for the Interior said at the commissioning ceremony that the completion of the project represented another significant step towards addressing infrastructure needs in schools within the constituency.
According to the Minister, the additional facilities would further strengthen the school’s infrastructure and increase its capacity to accommodate students.
He reiterated the government’s commitment under President John Dramani Mahama to expanding access to quality education and providing schools with the necessary facilities to support effective teaching and learning.
Mr. Muntaka cautioned students against the growing incidence of drug abuse among young people urging them to remain disciplined, concentrate on their studies and avoid choices that could jeopardise their health, education and future.
The Minister encouraged them to make responsible decisions that would contribute to their personal development and enable them to become productive members of their families and society.
The management and staff of the Sakafia SHS presented a citation in honour of the MP for his contribution towards the growth of the school.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Messrs Ben Abdallah Alhassan and Abubakar Sadique, the Municipal Chief Executives for Asokore Mampong and Tafo Municipal Assemblies respectively and Municipal directors of education, traditional leaders, members of the clergy and other stakeholders.
