The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢10 million by the High Court in Accra.
The bail, granted by Court of Appeal Judge Justice Charity Akosua Asem, is in the sum of two sureties to be justified, following the MP’s arraignment on three criminal charges.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who was represented by Samuel Atta Akyea, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The State was represented by Deputy Attorney-General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai.
The charges include conspiracy, intentionally causing financial loss to the state through the alleged dissipation of public funds amounting to GH¢9,850,000, and money laundering.
As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered the MP to deposit his passport with the court registry and make himself available to investigators as and when required for further investigations.
The case will therefore continue while investigations into the allegations proceed.
