The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Secretary in the Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti region, John Kwame Duodu, otherwise known as Sir John, is commending the party National Steering Committee for its balanced decision to maintain the current constituency executives in the 10 outstanding constituencies in the region.
The constituencies include Adansi Asokwa, Bantama, Old Tafo, Atwima Mponua, Manso Nkwata, Afigya Sekyere East, Obuasi West, Asante Akim Central, Manhyia North, and Kwadaso.
According to him, this crucial intervention clears the path for our Ashanti regional elections to proceed smoothly as scheduled on August 15.
“To all our esteemed party members, stakeholders, and grassroots sympathizers who have graciously accepted this outcome in good faith, I say thank you.
“Your maturity and respect for the party’s structures are a testament to our shared democratic values,” he said.
The decisions of the Steering Committee, he maintained, were designed to foster harmony, bridge divides, and directly reinforce our collective mission: maximizing votes for the party Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the party’s greatest stronghold.
Mr. Kwame Duodu said history has repeatedly taught the party a vital lesson, saying that “whenever the NPP in the Ashanti region stands united, we march forward to decisive electoral victories. Conversely, any time we are internally distracted or divided, the entire party weakens.”
Out of 276 constituencies nationwide, internal challenges and court interventions affected only 37 representing 86.59% completed, with the Ashanti region successfully completing 37 out of 47 constituencies (a remarkable 78.72% success rate).
“We must build upon this foundation rather than allow internal friction to derail our momentum. We must not lose sight of the political reality around us.
“The ruling NDC is closely lurking, desperately waiting to capitalize on any misstep, internal wrangling, or division we display before, during, and after our regional elections,” he said.
Mr. Kwame Duodu continued that “they seek to exploit our temporary differences to weaken our front, distract us with political convictions and the targeting of innocent online party members, and ultimately punish us in the 2028 general elections. We cannot afford to give them that opportunity.”
He, therefore, urged the party supporters to remain calm, law-abiding, and deeply respectful of the party’s internal structures and the National Steering Committee’s directives.
“The ultimate goal goes far beyond individual ambitions- it is about mobilizing every resource, healing every wound, and running a focused, robust campaign to secure a resounding victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia come 2028.
“Let us forge ahead as one unbreakable family, protect our stronghold, and deliver the mandate our nation desperately needs. The battle is the Lord’s, and victory is certain with Bawumia,” he added.
He extended gratitude to the various regional elections committees – “especially in our stronghold of the Ashanti Region, where tempers ran high—for their tireless dedication and steadfast resilience.”
