Kylian Mbappe reports for pre-season training with PSG

Kylian Mbappe has made his return to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of pre-season with the France striker beginning a new chapter at the club after signing a £34million megadeal.

The 23-year-old was pictured stepping out of a vehicle and walking into the club’s training complex while looking casual in a t-shirt and sunglasses.

For a long time, it looked highly unlikely that Mbappe would be spending the 2022-23 campaign with the French champions. But the World Cup winner spurned the advances of Real Madrid to agree a highly lucrative new three-year contract at the Parc des Princes worth over £650,000 per week.

PSG went to extraordinary lengths to secure the future of their marquee player with Mbappe, who pocketed a signing-on bonus of £126m, set to be among football’s highest earners.

It’s all change in some regards at PSG, however, with new coach Christophe Galtier getting down to work in training after replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

Though PSG once again won the Ligue 1 title last season, finishing 15 points ahead of rivals Marseille, they fell short in the French Cup and suffered a humiliating Champions League exit to Real Madrid.

Galtier, who has come in from Nice on a two-year deal, will become the latest manager tasked with ending PSG’s search for the holy grail of Europe’s leading competition.

And Mbappe, who scored 39 times in 46 outings last season, will be integral to their chances of finally cracking the Champions League.

PSG will begin their pre-season schedule with a friendly against Ligue 2 club Quevilly-Rouen at their training complex on Friday.
