The portion of the Kwesimintsim-Takoradi Highway, which has been in the news for a bad reason, has now been closed to traffic for maintenance.
The portion had developed deep pothole making driving stressful, difficult and worrying. That apart, it also led to traffic congestion, because of the bad nature of the portion, which many described as a death trap.
For now, there appears to be a move to repair the half kilometre road following the closure to traffic. From the main Kwesiminsim traffic light to the bridge in the Takoradi direction, the road has been closed, with the contractor on site working.
This File observed an excavator belonging to Justmoh Construction on site piling boulders to fill the portion to pave way for full asphalting.
Meanwhile, motorists coming from Agona Nkwanta to Takoradi continue to divert from the main traffic light to join the opposite single lane.
This has led to the piling up of traffic on the single lane road.
