KsTU Research and Innovation week launched

The Kumasi Technical University has launched its Research and Innovation week 2023, spanning a four day period, starting February 20, 2023.

The theme is: “Sustainable Development and Emerging Disruptions: The rule of Research and Innovation.”

The Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum and renowned Ghanaian industrialist, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka have been invited as distinguished guests during the week-long event.

The Vice Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Osei Wusu-Achaw, during the launch, attended by stakeholders and industry players from both the public and private sector, as well as head of faculty units from various institutes at the University, said the week aims at promoting tangible knowledge as the university opens its doors to the general public to come and experience some of their research and innovative products that they intend to commercialise.

He stressed the need for them to collaborate with industry players to engage in innovative research and to support industry and the economy.

He disclosed that the period will also help to deepen the university’s relationship with stakeholders and to better educate them to understand that there is no better place in this country to receive better academic training than at Kumasi Technical University.

According to the Vice Chancellor, KsTU is poised to deliver its mandate, which enjoins her to train students at all levels and to acquire skills to serve society and industry, as stipulated by the Technical Universities Act (Act 922 and Act 974).

Dr. Smart Sarpong, the Director of the Institute of Research, Innovation and Development (IRID), explained that there was the need to bring products from the university through its research and innovation to light and to impact on the lives of the public.
