Kotoko want Ghana Premier league postponed

Asante Kotoko has requested that all Ghana Premier League games be postponed until their game with AshantiGold is played.

The league leaders were scheduled to face their regional rivals on Thursday afternoon in Obuasi.

But the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on Wednesday night that the game had been postponed due to security concerns.

The GFA said Ghana Police Service raised an alarm about a security threat if the game took place at the Len Clay Sports Stadium following Ashantigold’s demotion to the third-tier over match-fixing.

“This morning, we have officially written to the Ghana Football Association to register our displeasure in the way and manner the match between AshantiGold and Asante Kotoko was postponed.

“As a club, we take a serious exception to the postponement of matches at this crucial stage of our league since issues of sporting integrity may be compromised.

“We have consequently, requested the Ghana Football Association to as a matter of fact postpone all league matches until the outstanding match between AshantiGold and Asante Kotoko is honoured.

“The club has also demanded the Ghana Football Association to reimburse it for the cost incurred as the team travelled and spent a night in Obuasi on Wednesday in preparation for the match on Thursday,” a statement by Kotoko read.
