Black Stars world cup group is not easy -Otto Addo

Otto Addo admits Ghana’s group for the world cup is difficult but says the Black Stars have a strong team.

Ghana have qualified to the World Cup ahead of rivals, Nigeria, in the World Cup play-offs in March. Subsequently, Ghana was drawn in group H alongside Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal.

Talks are far advanced for Otto Addo to be named as the Head Coach of the Ghanaian national side after the Ghana Football Association reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund and the gaffer.

Otto Addo is likely to lead the Black Stars in next months qualifiers against Madagascar and Central African Republic.

Addo, 46, says Ghana’s group for the world cup is difficult but believes the Black Stars have a strong squad.

“Our group is certainly not easy, that’s for sure. But I think the teams are balanced, apart from maybe Portugal, who will of course be extremely difficult to play against,” he admitted to Transfer Market.

“In retrospect, no World Cup went as experts had predicted beforehand – so I approach the tasks relatively impartially and I can tell you quite honestly: anything is possible.

“We have a strong squad and I’m convinced that the team can throw up a few surprises – but if things go badly in a group it’s easy to end up with three defeats,” he claimed.
