KNUST finalist installed Chief of Atwimatim

Mr. Kwame Adu, aka Ike, a final year Social Science student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been installed Chief of Atimatim in the Afrigya Kwabre South District of Ashanti Region.

Mr. Adu has sworn the Oath of Allegiance to Nana Buabasa Adubofuor Kwaw, Otumfuo’s Gyaase, with the stool name of Nana Kofi Oppong III, as the substantive Chief of the town, which has been without one for some time now.

At a grand durbar to introduce Nana Oppong to the citizens of the town, he promised to champion the agenda of his predecessor to improve the standard of living of the residents.

He also pledged to unite nananom (chiefs), the youth and all stakeholders.

The new Atimatim Chief entreated the youth to be humble, respect the elderly, and cultivate the attitude of serving their community selflessly for the betterment of the area and unborn children.

Nana Oppong disclosed that he was poised to initiate a development fund into which every household in the area, including Taabuom, would contribute monthly levies as their quota to complement the developmental agenda of the town.

Nana Oppong bemoaned the underdevelopment of the town, and the district, as the area had been neglected, evidenced in the fact that Atimatim, as a community could not boast of a single motorable road.

Nana Fosuah, Queenmother of the town, eulogised Nana Oppong for his humility and respect, which qualities had endeared him to nananom, the kingmakers and the entire community to support him to become the Chief of the town.

She entreated the up-and-coming youth to emulate Nana Kofi Oppong III.
