President John Dramani Mahama has told Ghanaians in the diaspora that the government is investigating 36 criminal cases which allegedly involved appointees and functionaries of the previous administration.

Debunking claims that the criminal investigations were a move by the government to smear, cow and oppress the alleged suspects, John Mahama explained that anybody who agrees to accept a public office should be ready to account for their stewardship.

“Nobody is immune from accountability, and I must state that the days of post- government accountability has is over. Governments must be willing to hand its appointees or public officials to the state’s investigating bodies to investigate them should they be suspected of some illegal deeds and nobody in my government will be shielded.

“I have told my appointees that they will face the music should they fall foul of the law,” John Mahama told a section of Ghanaians at a Diaspora Town Hall Meeting in London, UK, on Sunday.

John Mahama, together with the Finance Minister, Governor of the Bank of Ghana and some government’s ministers, is in London for the UK-Ghana Investment Summit to explain investment opportunities that abound in Ghana to woo investors into the country.
