GIS PRO ranked among top 25 Public Sector Leaders

The head of Public Affairs Unit at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) – C/Supt. Michael Amoako-Atta has been recognised among the top 25 Ghana Public Sector PR Leaders for his outstanding performance.

The GIS is one of the toughest government agencies in Ghana, but he has continuously stood tall in managing the reputation of the Service, hence the silver award he received.

C/Supt. Amoako Atta was honoured at the just ended maiden edition of the Ghana Public Sector PR Awards under the theme, “Celebrating the Achievements of PR Practitioners in Ghana’s Public Sector”, which was held at the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Accra.

The prestigious Award scheme, which was sponsored  by Public sector global Magazine, a publication from the Instinct wave Group Stables, saw the crème de la crème of the PR Practitioners in the public sector converge and celebrated for the sterling contributions made to the public sector over the years.

The Ghana Public Sector PR Awards is an extension of the Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards (APSCA).

APSCA has given the opportunity to reward heads of organisations and mostly institutions. At this point, the Ghana Public Sector PR Awards is just focusing on those in the communication and PR Units.

Some Honours were also conferred on heads of organisations for their exceptional contribution to the high-level performance by Public Relations Unit.

Such personalities included; Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama – Managing Director (Electricity Company of Ghana), Mr. Clifford A. Braimah – Managing Director for Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and Dr. Eric Nkansah – Director-General for Ghana Education Service, to mention a few.

Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, Minister for Information was adjudged as PR Man of the Year.

In terms of the organisational award, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Ghana Education Service (GES) and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) were also adjudged as the PR Teams of the Year.

The Ministry of Communication, on the other hand, received the Best Use of social media For Public Engagement Award.

The Award winners present were treated to good music and intercontinental cuisine.
