Banda assembly supports selected youth for apprenticeship programmes

Mr Emmanuel Akone, the District Chief Executive for Banda, in the Bono Region, has presented Apprenticeship Kits and admission fees to selected youth in the area to improve their livelihoods.

The gesture was an initiative through the National Youth Authority (NYA), in collaboration with the Banda District Assembly, to ensure the reduction of youth unemployment in the district.

The DCE presented the apprenticeship kits worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the registered youth within the district who are into TVET, including fashion designing, make-up artist and carpentry.

The trainers under whom the apprentices work, received an amount of GH¢1,200 each, on behalf of every beneficiary apprentice. The apprentices were also given the needed start-up kits to help them in the job market.

Meanwhile, those who opted for fashion design were given sewing machines, pairs of scissors, tape measures and other accessories they would need for the work.

Other youths with business oriented minds were also given tools and materials in relation to their professions and capacities.
