Ecobank Ghana has commissioned a Digital Learning Centre for the 4 Garrison Education Centre in Kumasi as part of activities marking the bank’s 40th anniversary.
The Centre is expected to help pupils acquire technological skills, solve problems and discover new possibilities.
The 4 Garrison Education Centre is equipped with 26 computers and furniture. Mr. Fred Amegashie, Zonal Head and Area Manager, while speaking on behalf of the Managing Director, said the bank’s commitment is to empower future generations.
He said the Centre will serve as a hub for digital skills development, providing pupils with opportunities to learn coding, web development, animation, robotics, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies that are shaping the future of work and innovation.
He said the bank will provide long-term support and advised teachers and school authorities to take ownership of the facility, participate in the training-of-trainers programme and ensure it becomes an active learning centre.
The project, he said, brings ‘Ecobankers’ together across the bank’s African footprint to provide a befitting 40th anniversary legacy built on confidence and practical knowledge, creating new industries and professions while transforming existing ones.

He said Ecobank Day is the Group’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative observed annually across all 33 affiliate countries.
He said this year’s event marks the culmination of Ecobank’s three-year Transforming Africa Through Education programme and is being held under the theme: “Building Tomorrow’s Skills Today”.
He noted that the event is significant as it forms part of activities marking the conclusion of Ecobank’s 40th Anniversary celebrations and reflects the bank’s continued commitment to supporting education, digital inclusion and skills development in Ghana.
He disclosed that Ecobank has created over 40 laboratories and digital learning centres to support teachers and pupils between 2023 and 2026. He reminded the school management that the facility requires continuous attention to serve its intended purpose and expressed gratitude to colleagues within the Ecobank family for their support in financing and creating opportunities for the next generation.
The 4 Garrison Education Officer, Lt. Col. I. Y. A. Niminga-Beka, said it is through collaboration and teamwork that Ecobank has delivered the project to help nurture young talents. He said management and staff welcome the facility and expressed hope that the children will be elevated and blossom.
The Director of Education at the Ghana Armed Forces, Col. Osman Zuneidu, urged learners to see the facility as an opportunity to develop their knowledge.
He expressed gratitude to Ecobank for providing the centre and said its significance will be felt through the knowledge acquired and the transformation of learners’ lives, noting that today’s digital world demands such facilities.
