Mr Abubakar Sedik, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, has dismissed claims that an existing classroom block at Mankranso will be demolished to pave the way for the construction of a 24-hour economy market.

The DCE was reacting to claims made by Mr. Kwaku Baabi Dehyeɛ, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Officer for the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency in a video circulating on social media that the classroom block constructed by the former Member of Parliament for the area was about to be demolished for the construction of the 24-hour Market.
According to the DCE, the classroom block was completed in 2022, but has remained unused. He described the claims as false, misleading and politically motivated and that the video had created the impression that the classroom block would be demolished to make way for the 24-hour economy market project.
Mr. Sedik stressed that no school building would be demolished to construct the 24-hour market, insisting that the two projects are separate. He said the market project was intended to create economic opportunities, improve trading conditions and promote the socio-economic development of Mankranso and the district.
The DCE urged the public to disregard what he described as misinformation and assured residents that his administration remains committed to development.
