The immediate past Member of Parliament for Subin and former Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi, has pledged to restore the GHc5k monthly stipend for each constituency when voted into office, as the next General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Boakye Antwi, who has70 per cent of delegates supporting him in the Ashanti region, has  also reiterated his call for unity and discipline to ensure that the ‘Kukrudu Party’ annexes power in the 2028 elections stressing that “without discipline there can never be power”.

The aspirant was addressing delegates from the 11 constituencies; namely Kwanwoma, Oforikrom, Asawase, Manhyia North and South, Asokwa, Subin, Bantama, Nhyiaeso, Tafo, Suame, Kwadaso and TESCON executives from in the Greater Kumasi enclave on Sunday.

The former Secretary of UK and Ireland branch who promised to address the indiscipline and inefficiency in the administrative system of the party called on the delegates to unite for the Elephant family to win power in 2028.

He noted that there was the need for change of leadership to effectively rally support for the Bawumia candidature in the 2028 elections and that the administrative set up at the NPP Secretariat was currently not good enough.

He also expressed concerns over the current situation where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) controls two-thirds of Parliament and urged the delegates to collectively work for absolute majority in the next Parliament.

He emphasised that the return of NPP to power after the 2028 general elections would depend on unity, purposeful, competent and visionary leadership through his ‘Unite Agenda’.

The General Secretary hopeful bemoaned loss of 50 seats in the last elections, which pushed the party to opposition and promised to restructure the base of the party, modernise the machinery and restore the lost trust and confidence in the electorate.

He called on delegates to elect a solid team of National executives with rich experience and to protect the ideals of the party to reclaim political power.

Mr Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, former MP for Nhyiaeso and member of Eugene Boakye Antwiu’s Campaign Team reminded the delegates that the sole aim of a political party was power and called for the election of a firebrand General Secretary to establish solid party structures to win power for the party.
