The Queen of Berekum Traditional Area, in the Bono Region, Nana Akosua Ameyaahene III, on Monday, led a full delegation of the Berekum Traditional Council to the Manhyia Palace, to officially introduce Odehyie Kofi Asante Krobea as the new paramount chief (Omanhene) of Berekum.

It was in fulfulment of the directive by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to the Queen mother and Kingmakers a forthnight ago, to nominate a royal to occupy the vacant Berekum stool.
Odehyie Kofi Asante Krobea’s traditional selection and nomination by the Queenmother and introduction to the Asantehene was unanimously backed by all the divisional chiefs of the Berekum Traditional Council.
His appointment fills the paramount stool left vacant, following the passing of the late Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II, also known as Dr. Leo Ofori, a Surgical Specialist, who died at age 84 in 2023 after 19 year reign.
Otumfuo has accepted the nomination, paving the way for the new Omanhene-elect to swear the oath of allegiance to the people of Berekum and the Berekum Traditional and ultimately to the Asantehene at a later date.
The swearing in processes would enable the new chief to assume full role and mandate as Berekum Omanhene to take care of the Berekum Paramount Stool and function as such, to ensure service to the Asantehene.
