Alan, Bawumia meet at Theresa Kufuor one week

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen met at the one-week observation of the late Mrs. Theresa Kufuor, former First Lady.

The Vice President who arrived after his former contender, Alan, was seen waking to him and shakings hands. The duo were all smiles, though one could not hear what they briefly said to each other.

They have joined former President John Agyekum Kufuor and his family on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Peduase residence for a special mass.

The two, are hitherto were contested the flag bearer slot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), were seen cheerfully exchanging pleasantries, to the admiration on onlookers.

The scene was described by some people as beautiful and healthy for the politics of the country, especially as attention has clouded the essence of the game of politics.

The scene, whose picture has since gone viral on social media, creates an impression of calm, looking at the circumstances surrounding the exist of the former Trade and Industry Minister from the contest and subsequently from the party.

The solemn moment, had the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his spouse in attendance.

The second lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, ministers of state, members of parliament, the clergy, academia, the media, civil society, the tourism and creative art sector, sports, were all present to mourn with President Kufuor and the family.

The Ghana Police Service provided security, directing vehicles to ensure free flow of traffic, and the evergreen Winneba Youth Choir treated the mourners to some soul inspiring choral music.

BURIAL

The burial and final funeral rites of the late Mrs Kufuor have been scheduled to start from November 16 to 19, 2023.

According to the family, the final funeral rites will begin with a burial service at the forecourt of the State House on November 16, 2023. President Akufo-Addo has said a state funeral will be held for the late former First Lady on this day.

The body will then be conveyed to Kumasi for the final funeral rites and burial on November 18, with thanksgiving service to be held on November 19, 2023, with the final funeral rites to be held on the same day after the burial.
