Akyemansa Assembly commissions projects …to advance infrastructure development

In the quest to improve infrastructure development, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Akyemansa Assembly in the Eastern Region, Paul Asamoah Gyemah, commissioned two different projects last Friday.

The two projects, a Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound for the people of Akyem Kotokuom, and a nurses’ quarters for Akyem Abenase, were made possible through the instrumentality of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase-Ayirebi who is also the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Speaking to the media shortly after the ceremony to officially open the two facilities, the DCE revealed that the MP lobbied for the two projects through the Japanese Organisation for International Cooperation (JOICFP).

He explained that JOICFP, which is a Japan-based international Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and active in the field of population, sexual and reproductive health and rights, including family planning, helped build the health center for Akyem Kotokuom.

According to him, the health of the people in the district was so dear to him and the MP, and that they would do everything possible to ensure that, at least, each community got a health center.

The DCE also revealed that accommodation for health personnel was being provided.

The District Health Director (DHD), Dr. Koranteng Ampaw, on behalf of the Directorate, expressed sincere gratitude to the DCE and MP for their concern for the health of the people in the district.

Like Oliver Twist, he asked the two gentlemen to extend their development drive to other smaller towns which lack such health amenities within the district.

On his part, the Chief of Akyem Kotokuom, Obrempong Ahenkora Kwakye Marfo II, thanked JOICEP NGO and government especially their DCE and MP and advised his people to make good use of the new health facility in order to attract more developmental projects into the community.
